80% of Paid Notes are About 'Declaring'! The Hint Was in Going Out with My Kids
The middle day of a three-day weekend.
I had promised to go out with my elementary school-aged second son and his friend's child.
While I had said, "I'll pick you up at 3:00 PM,"
I almost gave in to the sweltering heat outside.
"It's just too much of a hassle after all,"
the thought flickered across my mind.
But since I had already made the promise, I had no choice but to go out on time.
That's when I suddenly thought:
Isn't this the same as when writing a paid Note?
Today, I would like to talk about "tips for those who can't write a paid Note to take that first step".
A brief self-introduction
I'm Kanazawa, a Web writer.
Leveraging my past experience in operational support and lecturing at entrepreneurship schools, I share "tips for Notes that get read."
Thanks to everyone, I reached 1,000 followers in three and a half months since starting Note!
I am filled with gratitude for everyone who reads my work.
Thank you so much!
Declaring "I will write a paid Note" lowers the hurdle
If this had been a promise where I didn't have to take my friend's child, I might have negotiated with my second son and changed the plans, saying, "Can't we make it a bit later?" or "It's hot today, so why not tomorrow?"
But because I had made the promise to my friend's family, I had no choice but to go out.
A paid Note is exactly the same.
If you declare, "I will write a paid Note on such-and-such date," there is no turning back. It's interesting how, once you declare it, you have no choice but to write it, so your mindset shifts.
This is also something I have actually experienced myself.
Focusing on "how to do it" rather than "what will people think?"
Wouldn't creating a "situation where you have no choice but to do it" significantly lower the psychological hurdle?
The story of when I sold a 1,480 yen paid Note
I have sold a 1,480 yen paid Note in the past. I packed it with ways to cut corners so that writing daily Notes wouldn't become a burden. Haha.
I didn't sell all of them for 1,480 yen, but I have sold a total of about 25 copies, and I still receive notifications of purchases even now.
Actually, I had been announcing this Note repeatedly starting four days before I sold it.

The items circled in red are announcement articles.
To be honest, I was scared to sell a Note for over 1,000 yen.
However, by 'announcing' the sale of the paid article a few days in advance, there were people who looked forward to the start of sales, and when I finally started selling, I got my first purchase 5 minutes later, and before I knew it, I had sold 11 copies overnight.
I still cannot forget the joy I felt when I woke up.
By announcing 'I will write a paid article!' like this, readers can also prepare themselves mentally.
In fact, they might even look forward to it, wondering, 'What kind of content will it be?' or 'I'm excited!'
Making a declaration shifts your mindset
On the other hand, it also had a significant effect on me personally.
It forces you into a situation where you think, 'I've already announced it, so I have to write it.'
This situation is exactly the same as the 'promise to go out with a friend's child' I mentioned earlier.
As a result, because your thinking shifts from 'whether to do it or not' to 'how to do it,' I believe it gives you the push you need to take the first step in writing a paid Note.
Lower the hurdle for paid Notes by making a 'declaration'
I have heard the concern 'I'm scared to write a paid Note' about 100 times so far.
It is perfectly natural to feel scared of something you have never experienced before.
It is inevitable that you will get cold feet thinking, 'What will people think of me?'
But by not ending it there and instead declaring 'I will write a paid Note!', your thinking shifts to 'how should I write it?' Readers also change their stance to waiting for your paid article.
The first step is not 'writing a paid Note' but 'declaring that you will write a paid Note.' I hope this is helpful for those who are struggling because they 'can't find a reason to write a paid Note.'
I'll write a paid Note tomorrow (lol)
So, I will write a paid Note tomorrow.

For the first time in a while, I was able to refresh myself by moving my body outside with my children.
It will be cooler soon, so I would like to go out more often.
It was fun today, too.
Thank you very much.
