What I Saw After Drawing 100 Portraits of Koji Tamaki
~#TriedIt - My Personal Philosophy of Fandom~
Hello, I'm Candy.
I started painting at 50, and before I knew it, about three years had passed.
During that time, I have been drawing the same person.
My motif is the one and only artist—Koji Tamaki✨
It started with a piece completed purely on passion, and every time I drew a new one, I posted it on X or Instagram, and before I knew it, I had over 100 works.
I never imagined back then that I would become a "housewife in her 50s who draws nothing but Koji Tamaki."
But now, I proudly call myself this 😂
“The only Koji Tamaki specialist painter on Earth”
What I saw after drawing 100 portraits
It takes about 4 to 5 hours to finish one painting.
In other words, I have spent over500 hoursdrawing him.
But that time wasn't just spent listening to music and relaxing.
Rather, I spent that timelike diving into a deep, deep ocean.
The joy and sorrow embedded in Tamaki's songs,
the weight of life reflected in his gaze,
and the 100 expressions that appear from time to time.
“What are these eyes looking at?”
“What kind of pain has this smile overcome?”
“What is this stillness trying to protect?”
As I asked myself these questions, choosing colors and moving my brush, the emotions within me also painted 100 different colors and landscapes, layering over one another.
Through that repetition, I began to realize.
This is no longer just “fandom.”
I might be learning about a “way of life” through the existence ofKoji Tamaki.
The “peace” and “love” depicted by his music.
The experience of“receiving through drawing”that message was,
as if it werelike a prayer, or perhaps a form of ascetic practice?as well.
Every time I draw, my heart is purified...
Feelings of gratitude and the strength to live slowly fill me up.
And before I knew it,
“unwavering self”
What I finally saw after drawing 100 portraits.
It is,
By "sincerely facing one thing," a philosophy unique to oneself is born
This was an obvious, yet important realization.
Just the feeling of "liking" something, and a little bit of courage to keep going.
There is a world that has come into view by continuing to do something 100 times.
That is how I feel right now.
And from here on out as well...✨
Thank you so much for reading this far😌...
