Three Creative Award Entries I Want Everyone to Read Because They Were So Interesting - Essay Edition Part 4

Hello, this is Kosshi.

The deadline for Creative Award submissions has passed, but I still want to keep writing review articles!!

Once again, I will be introducing some Creative Award entries that I found interesting, entirely on my own. This is the fourth installment of the essay edition.
This time, the essays are a bit heart-wrenching, but I am sure these three pieces will make you feel glad you read them.

1. Noyagi-san / When Popcorn Pops.

It wasn't a lie. It was the truth.
I wish it had been a lie. Truly.
I wish it had been a lie.

An essay about Noyagi-san going to visit an old friend, U-chan, with their family.
I won't say much. I just want you to read it. And I want you to feel it.
I don't know if it will make your heart ache or if it will warm it.
But I felt this was an essay that absolutely must be read.
I am grateful to Noyagi-san for writing such a wonderful essay. Thank you.

2. Rousoku-san / Room 608 - 33 Years Old, A Late Rebellion -

I grew up in a 3LDK apartment in a corner of Osaka.
In Room 608.

Memories of Room 608 are recalled and intersect with the present at age 33.
The matter-of-fact descriptions are so realistic that they shook my heart.
This essay depicts 'reality.' It is a bitterness that surely exists deep in everyone's memories, and perhaps there are even people currently in the midst of that 'reality.'
It was an essay I really wanted such people to read.

3. Takimoto Kiwi-san / Life is in progress, but my husband has temporarily logged out

My husband had to be hospitalized,
so a life for just mother and daughter began.

A life for two that started suddenly.
Just getting through daily life is hard enough, but she has to think about everything all by herself—her husband's illness, educational insurance, and her daughter's graduation ceremony.
However, there were people around her who helped during those times.
I teared up at the kindness of her daughter, who said, 'Chin's udon is delicious.' And I sobbed when I realized her husband's love was behind that.

The gentle touch of the illustrations matches the story perfectly, and I am sure your heart will be filled with emotion.
Living life is truly difficult, but this was a comic essay that gives you courage.

These are the three works for this time!
All of them were wonderful essays that evoked both sadness and empathy.
I hope you will read them and immerse yourself in the lingering emotions they leave behind.
