[Journaling] There was no such thing as 'the same day' | A month of facing myself

I felt like, 'Every day is just a repetition of the same day.'
But a single notebook taught me that no two days are the same.

There was no such thing as 'the same day' anywhere.

1. Starting with 'Journaling' from the form

I knew the word 'journaling'.
While watching YouTube, a video about journaling happened to come up.
There were line graphs and habit trackers on one page of the notebook.

かっこよ!!(; ・`д・´)
そう思って私はジャーナリングを始めた。

At first, I started just from the 'form'.
I decided that I would at least create the line graphs and the sections to fill in.

I liked that visual.

2. Habit tracker and the line of emotions

In my notebook, items like writing notes, running, muscle training, reading, English, trying new things, and sketching are lined up. I fill in the squares on days I succeed, and color them lightly on days I only touched upon them slightly. Furthermore, I plot my state of mind at waking and bedtime as points and connect them with a line. (The further to the right, the more positive it is.)

Continuing this task, one day, I suddenly realized something.
I had been convinced that my days in Thailand were 'a repetition of the same things'.
Even after coming to Thailand, I attend classes, go to the library, finish assignments, and write notes.

'Today is just another day like yesterday.'
In that way, I thought of myself as a slightly boring person.

3. Yogurt | A new challenge

But, as I filled in the 'new things' column in my notebook, I realized something.

'Come to think of it, today was the day I ate a dish I ordered for the first time.'
'The day I bought yogurt, which I hadn't bought even once since coming to Thailand.'

From someone else's perspective, it might be such a small thing that it makes them laugh. But when I look back on those 'new events',

I start to feel proud of myself.

Even though I thought I was attending the same classes and walking the same paths every day,
my body was eating different things than yesterday, encountering different words than yesterday, and performing different actions than yesterday.

There was no such thing as 'the same day' anywhere.

4. Beloved daily life seen by increasing the resolution

The squares of the habit tracker fill up, repeating shades of light and dark. The line graph clumsily goes up and down as it extends toward tomorrow.

There is no dramatic growth.
But every time I open this notebook,
I have started to say to myself,
'You are living each day properly, aren't you.'

Today, too, I will try something new.
I wonder if that small step is what makes a day a day.

My journaling is almost like a habit tracker.
Well, you should just do it however you want.
I used to think that when trying to make something a habit, I had to clarify the purpose, but I was able to continue for a month even with a reason as simple as 'it's cool'.

I need to consider what I can do to better notice my own changes.

Looking at the habit tracker on the left, it's also fun to be able to poke fun at myself, like 'I haven't studied English at all' or 'I haven't been running!' (lol)

I'll do my best next month (March) too!

Bonus

I am creating something that visualizes the ratio of emotions, stress levels, and topics of interest that occupy me from my diary, so if you have any requests, please leave a comment (*´▽`*)

Classify emotions and turn them into numerical values
Graph my changes over time
Classify my values
Map my strengths on two axes
Display unprocessed thoughts and tasks
