On a day of blue rain, I became all alone.

That day, Shion, then a kindergartner, was out for a drive with his family. Shion was sitting in the back seat with his mother. He had actually wanted to sit in the passenger seat, but it was his older brother's turn that day.

When he looked out the window, it had started to rain. He remembers thinking how strange it was for it to rain while the blue sky was still spread out. He has no memory of what happened after that.

When he woke up, he saw an unfamiliar white ceiling. There was a smell of medicine. A nurse approached, and he realized he was in a hospital. Shion was the only one who survived the traffic accident.

Since then, Shion grew up in a children's home. Being surrounded by other children in similar circumstances allowed them to grow up without suffering alone, even while being considerate of one another.

"Anyway, I have no choice but to live by my own strength," Shion began to think around the time he entered junior high school, and he studied desperately. He passed the scholarship selection exam for Science University and was able to receive a non-repayable scholarship.

Since he had to leave the children's home after graduating from high school, he decided to move into a dormitory when he started university. Since part of the dormitory fees would also be waived, he expected to be able to make a living by working a part-time job.

Today is the day I say goodbye to the children's home that took care of me for 13 years. A lot of things happened, but I consider everyone at the facility to be like family, and I have nothing but gratitude for the staff. Shion vowed to himself that after graduating from university and getting a job at a major company, it would be his turn to contribute to society.

When he stepped outside the children's home, a warm spring breeze brushed against his skin. Looking up, a cloudless blue sky spread out beyond the dancing cherry blossoms.

Shion was enveloped in a dazzling light.
