Spring Dawn and Thank You in Tissue Calligraphy_There is also a Tissue Calligraphy WS announcement [66 Weeks of Lyrical Writing 3]
From the end of March through April, my mood and physical strength were at their worst.
I fell ill, and my spirits collapsed at the same time. There were days when I couldn't even breathe. I just didn't care anymore. Will I continue to be dominated by this exhaustion, remaining unable to like the people close to me? Every day, the arrival of morning was painful. I couldn't go to work and took several days off.
I had decided to open a booth at an event in May.
I had also decided on the content. I decided to exhibit and sell original postcards I had sold before, and hold a workshop as well.
Oh right, I'm going to be in an event, I'm looking forward to it. This will surely make me feel better. Exciting...
However, I was naive. Even when I tried to prepare for the event, my motivation just kept dropping. When I looked over which postcards to exhibit again, none of them felt right.
Even when people told me, "These are lovely postcards," I just thought, "Meh." A workshop? What's that? The preparations weren't moving forward either.
Oh, I'm so done. Should I quit the event...? But isn't that just running away? Sigh.
Should I try writing 'Tissue Calligraphy'?
Behind my "sighs," various articles were still being posted on Note as usual. Everyone is amazing... I hate myself for being unable to do anything.
In the midst of that, Myton-san's article caught my eye. "Tissue Calligraphy." Hmm, hmm.
Writing on a tissue? My heart reacted a little. Maybe I should try writing...
I wrote Tissue Calligraphy!
A brush pen is always within reach. A tissue is right in front of me. I'll just try writing something, I thought, as my hand reached for the pen.
...Hmm? Isn't this nice?
The casualness and ease of using a tissue, yet the fact that you can't write unless you write gently—it felt like treating myself gently, and somehow my feelings calmed down.
I had an epiphany!!
The next day.
Tissue calligraphy was fun. I thought about it while in the car. Then, an idea suddenly popped into my head.
"How about doing Tissue Calligraphy at the workshop?"
Wow—that's absolutely perfect!! It felt like such a nice idea, and I was just plain excited.
But, it seems Myton-san lives far from my region.
Eh? Then, should I do it?? ...For now, let me ask Myton-san if it's okay to hold one!
But I can't say it.
Five days have passed since I thought about asking Myton-san. I still haven't asked.
I'm not in Myton-san's membership, and I've only interacted through comments occasionally. Honestly, I haven't really had much connection with Myton-san.
Is it okay for someone like me to say, "I want to hold a Tissue Calligraphy workshop"? Wouldn't it be a nuisance?
Round and round and round... the debate of whether I should say it or not occupied my mind.
I had a feeling that Myton-san wouldn't say "You can't do it." Even though I had a hunch that they would readily agree, I was still holding onto the frustration of not being able to speak up.
April 30th, the day of destiny
If I don't say it here, I won't be able to move forward or backward. Golden Week is coming up, so this is the time limit! Thinking that, I typed and sent the message with only momentum on my side, just as I had woken up in the morning.
Ten minutes later, a reply came. It was a prompt acceptance.
This reply was a miracle cure.
Strangely enough, after receiving this reply, I felt very energetic.
My heart was singing and dancing, and it felt like little creatures of excitement were about to come out of my mouth. Ah, I'm looking forward to it!
I guess I really do like silly things. I just want to do silly things seriously. Steering toward excitement is enough to make me happy. If I am happy, the person next to me will be happy, and the person next to them will be happy... I want to be one of the carriers of that cycle. And I realized once again this time that when you think of something, you should just do it.
You just have to make sure to secure time to recharge and steer the wheel in an interesting direction again. Today, too, please go toward what makes your heart flutter with excitement. That way of running is exactly right.
