To my 10-years-younger self: That atmosphere was my own heart. If you could give advice to your 10-years-younger self, what would you say? | Happy Writing Marathon #41
To my 10-years-younger self.
Right now, you might be feeling the atmosphere of the room as your own 'personal sensation' and taking it on very heavily while trying to be close to the hearts of those in front of you.
The other person must be feeling this way. This place is filled with this kind of anxiety.
You trusted your intuition very much. And in fact, you also possessed the power to sense the atmosphere of a room.
But there is something I want to tell you precisely because I am who I am now.
That heaviness you believed was 'something flowing in from the outside.' Much of it was also a landscape projected from within your own heart.
Things you thought were your own sensations. Or things you were convinced were the sensations of others.
Much of that was a world seen through a 'filter' created by your own heart's defense instincts.
While working in psychology, the thing I understood the least was the habits of my own heart.
Through the experience of being deeply hurt in human relationships, I finally came to realize the existence of that filter.
That event was by no means easy. But it also became the trigger for me to see, for the first time, the outline of what had been binding me for so long.
I haven't completely moved forward yet. I am in the middle of stopping for a moment and re-examining my own heart.
Even so, it is a little different from before.
This might be a signal coming from my heart.
By doing that, I have become able to look at my own sensations from a slightly detached place.
It might be hard for your 10-years-younger self to believe, but I am now putting my inner self into words in a place called note.
Not as the correct answer of an expert, but writing down my realizations as a human being, just as they are.
Strangely enough, those words sometimes reach someone else's heart.
To my 10-years-younger self.
Doubting your own sensations is a very scary thing. But when you notice that filter, the way you see the world will change little by little.
Weaving words together
is also a time to gently reconnect with yourself and the world.
So, please, rest assured.
Please keep walking, just as you are.
From your self 10 years in the future.
If there is anyone currently suffering from the atmosphere in their relationships,
whether that atmosphere is truly coming from the outside,
or if it is something your own heart is creating.
It might be worth stopping for just a moment to feel it out.
