2025/08/20 What Lies Beyond the Hustle: A Day That Gives Us the Courage to Pause
2025/08/21
The morning coolness vanishes in just a single breath.
Open the window, and the heat rushes right in.
If only the temperature would drop a little in the mornings and evenings, it would be easier to get by, but it seems summer isn't over yet.
While stretching loosely, I take a deep breath to quietly gear myself up, thinking, 'Today is Wednesday.'In my heart, the
switch for battle modeis silently flipped.Today, I'm heading to cheer dance lessons right after leaving work on time.
It's a day where my time management will be put to the test.
That is precisely why I think this morning time gently supports me.
The rhythm of a day spent minute by minute
Wednesdays, when my daughters have cheer dance lessons, the usual flow of time changes completely.
Leaving work on time, picking them up, and managing dinner.
And the goal of getting to bed before 9:00 PM.
Since they were off last week, it was the start of a day with a bit of tension.
I spent the morning work hours repeatedly mapping out the timeline in my head. I set up the necessary arrangements to leave on time and finished the day as if running a race.
From there on, it was truly battle mode.
Even while heading to the classroom with the cheer gear in hand, I found myself worrying about the clock hands.
Yet, the moment I saw my daughters' smiles, I realized that even amidst the hustle, there is a warm flow of time.
During the lesson, my eldest daughter fell but got back up and kept dancing with a smile. I whispered to myself, 'That's amazing.'
When I asked, 'You did great, did it hurt?' she held back tears and said, 'I'm okay.'
I felt like I saw my eldest daughter's pride in that moment.
A shift from confusion to realization
On the other hand, my heart tightened at my eldest daughter's words after her bath, when she confessed, 'My head has been hurting since this afternoon.'
'Why didn't you tell me sooner?'I felt a mix of blame and regret for 'myself, who failed to notice because I was caught up in being busy.'But looking back, I was often like that too.
The more tired I am, the more I insist I'm 'okay' and put my true feelings on the back burner.
On days chased by busyness, I want to have the 'courage to rest.'A single breath taken to pause will surely create the space to listen to my family's voices and my own heart.
What remains amidst the busyness
Wednesdays really do pass by as if running minute by minute.
But precisely because it's a day like that, small smiles and checking in with 'Are you okay?' are important.
Have you ever had a moment where you noticed someone's true feelings amidst the busyness?
Even if you can't respond perfectly right away, I hope we can gently reach out from the moment we notice.
