2025/09/14 Balancing Housework and Play: A Holiday Adjusted to My Physical Condition
2025/09/14
I was awake at 4:00 AM, but I watched my daughters sleeping before slowly getting up.
I took into account yesterday's headache and tonight's fireworks in my own way.
I want to praise myself for choosing not to push too hard.
My husband finished preparing for his sandlot baseball game and left at 6:30 AM.
In the quiet time when I was alone, I opened my planner and calmed my mind.
Along with turning on the washing machine, I switched on my weekend housework mode and got things organized.
After finishing cleaning the washing machine tub, the drains, and the second-floor floors, my heart felt refreshed and light.
Cherishing each child's individual time
After 7:00 AM, my daughters woke up, and we did the usual hamster care and breakfast.
After enjoying our Sunday TV time, we headed to the shopping mall.
My eldest daughter was looking for craft and knitting materials with a serious expression. Influenced by the knitting book she borrowed from the library yesterday, she is completely motivated.
My second daughter declared she was looking for "grown-up style clothes." Plaid pants with large pockets... she seems to be projecting a slightly more mature version of herself onto the image she has in her mind.
We didn't find the perfect clothes, but seeing her explore her own style while picking up various items gave me a glimpse of her growth.
In the afternoon, my eldest daughter immersed herself in knitting.
My second daughter declared which anime she wanted to watch and took her place in front of the TV, entering her favorite world.
I read a book and occasionally peeked at how the knitting was coming along.
It was a peaceful afternoon where everyone cherished their own time.
A special time brought about by the postponement
In the evening, the long-awaited fireworks time arrived.
It was postponed due to rain yesterday, but tonight we were able to enjoy it with our friends' family without any issues.
Sparks burst into the darkness, and the children's cheers echoed. Their profiles as they stared intently at the small fireballs of the sparklers looked a little more mature than usual.
Because it was postponed, tonight's moment felt even more special. The joy of having our expectations met and the time spent laughing together remain in my heart.
The space created by organizing
Looking back on the day, I feel that the sense of refreshment I gained from the morning cleaning enriched the time that followed.
Organizing one's life might not be about packing in a schedule, but about creating space to be absorbed in the things you love.
What is your way of "organizing to enrich your holidays"?
Small adjustments and extra space might gently change your busy daily life.
