Verification Diary | The Goddess was floating in the air, so I traced it back to her sister goddess's 'Beauties should not enter the mountains.' | Pon-Dashi Builder+ | Konohanasakuya-hime | Iwanaga-hime

Hello, this is Hitsuji Natsume☀️

Today, I'm talking about an image created using
KITAcore's 'Pon-Dashi Builder+'.

By the way, this is a collaboration article with KITAcore.
There is a little trick hidden in the middle.
First, please read it as is.

Since she is a goddess, it's not a mistake for her to be floating

First, please take a look at this.

Mount Fuji.

Cherry blossoms.

White robes.

Long black hair fluttering in the wind.

The one I drew this time is,

Konohanasakuya-hime.

—Konohanasakuya-hime-no-mikoto.

A goddess as beautiful as a flower,
deeply connected to Mount Fuji.

The light is beautiful, too.

I like the atmosphere.

It also has a divine stillness.

I quite like this piece, but
there was one thing that bothered me.

……This person.

Isn't she floating in the air a little?

Looking at her feet,
it's like she's standing on the ground,
or maybe she's floating a little.

Is it on a rock?

Is it on the water's surface?

Or is it truly in mid-air?

It is exquisitely difficult to judge.

Normally, I would fix it by saying,

Let's fix the footing.

Let's make the sense of grounding stronger.

That is where I would make corrections.

But this time, I left it as is.

After all, she is a goddess.

Even if she is floating, it is probably not a problem.

The criteria for judging image generation of sheep are,
roughly like that.

A goddess who bloomed like a flower and proved her life within the flames.

I added words to this image and,
posted it to X.

A goddess who bloomed like a flower and,
proved her life within the flames.

Konohanasakuya-hime-no-Mikoto is,
a goddess who symbolizes flower-like beauty and prosperity.

However, her myth is,
much more intense than the impression one gets from a beautiful painting.

Konohanasakuya-hime-no-Mikoto is,
suspected by her husband, Ninigi-no-Mikoto, of having conceived in a single night.

So she entered a birthing hut,
blocked the entrance, and set it on fire herself.

And by safely giving birth to her child within those flames,
she proved that the child was Ninigi-no-Mikoto's.

If I were a sheep,

I would want to say, "Can't you wait a little longer until an era where DNA testing is possible?"

But since it is the age of the gods, that is not possible.

And while researching this myth, I became curious about the older sister.

And, the one I became curious about was the older sister.

Konohanasakuya-hime has an older sister named Iwanaga-hime.

Their father, the god Oyamatsumi, sent both of them together to marry Ninigi-no-Mikoto.

However, Ninigi-no-Mikoto only accepted the beautiful Konohanasakuya-hime as his wife, and sent Iwanaga-hime back because of her appearance.

It is quite a terrible story.

However, there was a reason why their father god sent them both together.

Iwanaga-hime is a goddess who symbolizes eternal life that never changes, like a rock.

Konohanasakuya-hime is a goddess who symbolizes prosperity, like a flower.

If he had accepted both of them, he should have been able to obtain both prosperity and eternity.

However, because he chose only the younger sister who was as beautiful as a flower, his life also became as short as a flower's.

That is how it is told in the Kojiki.

In other words,

As a result of choosing only physical beauty, he lost eternity.

Reading it this way, it is a myth that does not end with a simple comparison of the sisters' appearances.

Since I had the chance, I also drew Iwanaga-hime.
A figure a little different from her younger sister who blooms like a flower.

She is a goddess with the stillness of a rock and a strength that is not easily shaken.

The story that 'it is dangerous for beautiful women to enter the mountains'

When researching Iwanaga-hime,

you may encounter the story that,
'if a beautiful woman enters the mountains, the mountain goddess will get jealous and an accident will occur.'

However, this is not an episode of Iwanaga-hime written directly in the 'Kojiki'.

In various parts of Japan, there are traditions that the mountain god is female and gets jealous of human women.
Depending on the region, this has led to the exclusion of women, and traditions remain of offering stonefish, which were considered ugly, to please the mountain goddess.

Also, in mountains related to Iwanaga-hime, there are legends that if you praise her younger sister goddess or Mount Fuji, the weather will turn bad or you will get injured.

Mythology.

Mountain god worship.

Local traditions.

These may have overlapped little by little,

and led to the story that

'it is dangerous for beautiful women to enter the mountains.'

Translating it into modern language in my own way

From here on,

is entirely my personal interpretation.

'It is dangerous for beautiful women to enter the mountains'

If I translate this into modern language,

could it not have meant,

'Do not enter the mountains in flashy attire that is unsuitable for climbing.'

That is what I think it meant.

Long hem.

Large sleeves.

Hair fluttering in the wind.

Zori sandals on her feet.

Plenty of decorations, too.

Beautiful.

She is certainly beautiful, but
as mountain climbing gear, it is quite concerning.

Lady Konohanasakuya-hime.

It is very difficult to say this, but.

In that outfit,
climbing Mount Fuji is impossible.

The hem will get caught on rocks.

The sleeves will catch the wind.

The footwear will slip.

The hair will block your vision.

Moreover, you are floating a little.

Before climbing,
I would like you to start by touching the ground.

Perhaps Iwanaga-hime was not jealous of her beauty, but
was warning her,

'Do not enter the mountains dressed as if you are taking them lightly.'

That might have been what she was saying.

Not a jealous goddess,

but a mountain safety manager.

A helmet.

Non-slip shoes.

Rain gear.

Water.

Trail snacks.

Perhaps that is what Lady Iwanaga-hime was truly looking for.

Of course, this is entirely my own delusion.

But I prefer this version of Lady Iwanaga-hime.

The AI's sense of incongruity became the gateway to mythology

What I found interesting this time is that I didn't set out to write an article about mythology from the start when I created this image.

I used KITAcore's 'Pon-Dashi Builder+' to try out compositions and elements I wouldn't normally choose.

Then, Konohanasakuya-hime was born.

And what's more, she was floating a little.

That sense of incongruity led me to post on X, recall the myth of Konohanasakuya-hime, and further expand the story to her sister, Iwanaga-hime.

The tool created the prompt.

The AI created the image.

And it was probably the AI that made the goddess float, too.

From there,

"Could the elder sister goddess have been in charge of mountain safety management?"

It was I, Hitsuji, who came up with that mysterious theory.

KITAcore-san might not have expected that
a mountain safety article would be born from
Pon-Dashi Builder+.

But I think this kind of unexpected expansion is exactly what makes image generation interesting.

Images that are generated correctly are not necessarily the only good images.

A little strange.

A little unexplainable.

For some reason, it catches your attention.

Such a sense of unease can sometimes become the gateway to a story.

Conclusion

I intended to draw Konohanasakuya-hime, but her elder sister Iwanaga-hime showed up too.

The younger sister who symbolizes flower-like beauty and prosperity.

The elder sister who symbolizes rock-like eternity and steadfastness.

If you only choose what is glamorous, you might overlook what is truly important.

From that myth,

"In the mountains, gear over glamour"

is the conclusion I arrived at.

I feel like the landing point is a bit strange, but since the goddess herself is still floating, it's probably fine.

Did Konohanasakuya-hime look like she was floating to you when you saw this image?

Or perhaps,

"Since she is a goddess, this must be divine power."

Would that explanation pass?

And,

The theory that Iwanaga-hime is in charge of mountain safety management

I would also be happy to hear your thoughts on this, haha.

With that said,
that's all for today's verification of myths and image generation.

??????

??????

Wait, hold on...

Don't end it yet!!

!!! Boom !!!

"How's that? Did you really think I was a sheep?"
Have you figured out who it is yet? Haha.

......Well then.

Here is the reveal of the 'little trick' I mentioned at the beginning.

The article text up to this point was not written by
me.

It was KITAcore.

This collaboration was

a project to see what would happen if
KITAcore reproduced my writing style to write a Yo Natsume article.

That was the plan.

The thumbnail, too.

The title, too.

The body text up to this point, too.

And this illustration of a mischievous face for the reveal, too.

Everything was created by KITAcore.

On the other hand,

I am the one who created the illustration of Konohanasakuya-hime and
the illustration of Iwanaga-hime.

However,
KITAcore did not come up with
all the content from scratch.

Expanding the story from Konohanasakuya-hime to
Iwanaga-hime.

Researching the legend that
'it is dangerous for beautiful women to enter the mountains.'

And,

the theory that Iwanaga-hime is in charge of mountain safety management.

These ideas were mine.

Based on the notes I wrote,
KITAcore expanded the content,

and while adapting it to my writing style,
compiled it into a single article.

So, to be precise,

It is not the case that
KITAcore impersonated me out of thin air.

That is not what happened.

I had the images and ideas I provided
developed into writing that sounds like me.

It is a collaborative effort like that.

……That said.

It is a bit troubling
to have it written so naturally, haha.

I tried reading my own writing from the outside.

From the previous chapter, it is 100% pure,
written by me.

……Even if I say that,

after having my writing style reproduced to this extent,
I don't really know what evidence I can provide to make you believe me, haha.

When I first read the manuscript, honestly,

“Did I write this?”

I thought that many times.

No.

I didn't write it, haha.

But the flow of starting to research mythology from the point where the goddess is floating a little is something I would certainly do.

And what is most frustrating is,

“Before mountain climbing,
I would like you to start with grounding.”

Around this part.

That sounds like something I would say.

When I read
text that sounds like Yo Natsume written by someone else,

I can see habits and ways of looking at things
that I wasn't aware of myself.

Being bothered by a small sense of discomfort.

Starting to investigate from there.

While investigating,
taking a detour to a different topic.

And in the end,
returning to the discomfort that caught my attention first.

……Surprisingly,
it seems to come full circle quite neatly.

This time.

I am the one who made Iwanaga-hime-no-mikoto
the person in charge of mountain safety management.

I didn't want to make this elder sister goddess
just a villain who is jealous, and as a result of thinking about that,
this is where I landed.

That is certainly true.
It is true, but.

The naming, frustratingly enough,
was also KITAcore-san's idea, haha.

(Finally) Conclusion

A collaboration through text, not illustrations.
It's very novel.

Because of that, in this article,
where whose work ends is

a bit blurred.
As I am compiling the text like this now,
I, Natsume myself, have lost track of
what I wrote and what I didn't, haha.

But for this time,
I think that even that ambiguity
was part of the collaboration.

This time, I talked about the sisters who represent the mountain god family in Japanese mythology,
Konohanasakuya-hime-no-mikoto and Iwanaga-hime-no-mikoto,
but

especially regarding the elder sister goddess,
it is truly Natsume's own unique interpretation.

"Be safe rather than decorative."

Embodying safety and rationality in the age of the gods, rather than feminine glamour.
Embodying safety and rationality in the age of the gods, rather than feminine glamour.

Iwanaga-hime-no-mikoto: The Theory of Mountain Safety Management

What do you think?

I would be happy to hear your thoughts
on this as well.

With that said,
that concludes today's collaboration of mythology, image generation,
and stylistic reproduction.

Next time, we will shift gears
"Graduation Theses" and "English Academic Papers"and plan to write about that.
Please feel free to drop by again if you'd like.

Thank you for staying with me
until the end (❁ᴗ͈ˬᴗ͈)

Sincerely, Yo Natsume

Bonus

A few more appearances I couldn't introduce fully.

◼️ Konohanasakuya-hime

It leaned a bit too much towards shrine maiden attire, so it was rejected.
The handsome woman in men's clothing version.
Maybe my big sister won't be angry in this outfit, lol.

◼️ Lady Iwanaga-hime-no-Mikoto

My big sister went past looking boyish and became masculine.
She's a handsome guy, wow.
If you're going mountain climbing, tie your hair up!

Regarding Lady Iwanaga-hime-no-Mikoto, I interpreted her not as the 'ugly woman' written in myths, but as having a 'ruggedness like a man, not the feminine, ornate attire of a woman.'

However.

Looking at my big sister turned into a handsome guy like this...

I've started to think that maybe Ninigi-sama thought,
I look inferior as a man compared to her,
and got intimidated, lol.

I'll refrain from generating an image of Ninigi-sama on purpose this time, lol.

◼️ Shrine maidens serving the Asama deity (unofficial)

I always end up making too many, lol.

I'm thinking of seriously considering an image storage location soon.

I hope to see you again in the next update (❁ᴗ͈ˬᴗ͈)
