Hilton Club Odawara Relaxed Drinking Stay 7: Cottage Room Drinking with Fresh Fish from the Fishing Port
On the first night of my stay in Odawara, after getting tipsy on horse mackerel hot pot at Gyoan,
I returned to the cottage, and it was finally time for some room drinking.
I laid out the spoils from Sakijiro at Odawara Fishing Port that I had picked up while shopping, and the preparations for the after-party were complete.
Even though I should have had plenty to drink outside,
this is the time that makes me unable to give up drinking on trips.
First, a toast with canned beer and chuhai 🍻
From here on, it's a full-on "relaxation mode" start.
✅ A lineup of sashimi that is too luxurious, delivered directly from the fishing port
● Horse mackerel sashimi
Moist flesh with a solid umami flavor.
It's simple, but it has that reliable quality that makes you think, "This is it!"
● Live spear squid sashimi
The translucent flesh is sticky and sweet.
The more you chew, the more the flavor spreads, and I just couldn't stop using my chopsticks.
● Boiled whitebait and salmon roe
A fluffy, gentle saltiness.
A versatile player that's good on its own or as a little extra topping.
✅ Switching to full-on home drinking mode with some comforting dishes
● Salmon rice (prepared in advance)
The salmon rice I prepared at home made its appearance here.
This "little bit of extra effort" really boosts the satisfaction of drinking in the room.
Fresh sashimi and the gentle saltiness of the whitebait.
And then, the comforting salmon rice.
Before I knew it, I was reaching for some Iichiko shochu with hot water,
and my "home drinking switch" was completely turned on.
Even though I'm in a cottage, it feels just like an extension of my own home.
I can drink whenever I want and rest whenever I want.
This freedom is the real thrill of a stay-type resort.
When I get sleepy, I can just head straight to bed.
Enjoying that luxury, the first night came to a gentle end.
