It wasn't very crowded, but it was stupidly funny!
That's how much of a hit this film is.
Even if you're feeling down, I think you'll feel a bit better after watching it.

Synopsis
A crime comedy depicting an ordinary housewife bored with her life who becomes obsessed with the allure of gold and attempts to steal a gold tea bowl worth 10 billion yen. Inspired by a real-life incident, the story features Rena Tanaka as the protagonist, Mikako. Bored with her ordinary and dull days, Mikako, a full-time housewife, impulsively steals a 'gold orin' (Buddhist singing bowl) worth 1 million yen sold by the Gold Company SGC during a visit to a department store. Mikako, who was raised to believe that being ordinary is happiness, becomes obsessed with the allure of gold, which revives the dreams she held as a child of 'wanting to be someone special' and 'doing something only I can do,' leading her to recklessly plan the theft of the 'Hideyoshi's Gold Tea Bowl' worth 10 billion yen. However, a series of troubles ensue, including a battle of wits with Kinjo, an SGC employee who tries to exploit Mikako, and her husband's infidelity, which leads him to become an accomplice to the theft...
With the cooperation of the Gold Company SGC, which handles everything from gold refining to production, sales, and purchasing, a number of genuine gold crafts worth hundreds of billions of yen in total appear in the film. Win Morisaki co-stars as Kinjo, who engages in a battle of wits with Mikako. The film is directed and written by Takayuki Kayano, who has worked on original works such as 'Danshari Paradise' and 'Kanji Tsuda Has No Days Off.' The theme song is performed by Kohmi Hirose.
A gold-medal level, tasteful movie
Gastroenteritiswas what I was recovering from when I went to see it. In fact, I still had a headache.
Even in such poor condition, I wanted to see it as soon as possible. I had a feeling it would be interesting!
My 'this might be interesting' radar is sometimes extremely high-performance. This was definitely one of those times.
It's a little different from 'laugh-out-loud,' but it was so funny that my shoulders were shaking from laughing lol
SUI likes poisonous humor, and the humor in this film is exactly like that. It captures human greed, bitterness, and sadness within the laughter, and I thought it was a masterpiece of taste.
While based on an actual 'Orin (that Buddhist tool you ring with a ding!) theft incident,' it's crafted into entertainment that only Director Kayano could make. He also wrote the script himself.
The film incorporates a reenactment drama of the heroine, creating a meta-structure, and this device doubles the fun.
While it makes you laugh heartily, the ending leaves a lingering impression.
It makes you think, 'In the end, people are never satisfied.'
If I had been involved in the production, I might have made the ending feel a bit more hopeful for the heroine. But if I did that, some viewers might interpret it as condoning crime, so I suppose this was the only way to end it.
Beyond gold? The brilliance of Rena Tanaka
Anyway, Rena Tanaka's performance as a comedienne is truly, truly wonderful!
I'm sure she'll be in the running for an Academy Award. It's the best.
She's always been a very skilled actress, so I had high expectations.
But she easily exceeded this middle-aged woman's expectations, and I was like, 'Rena Tanaka, you're seriously amazing. I'm completely blown away.'
It's not just that she's cute no matter how old she gets; Rena Tanaka's meticulously calculated acting is a joy to watch. You have to see this. Seriously.
I want not only movie lovers but also those who only occasionally watch Japanese films to see this.
Even without a huge budget (I don't know the budget, but it probably wasn't that high), a movie can be this interesting with just ideas and the high-quality acting of the heroine.
With her charming smile, clever delivery of lines, and acting full of little-devil-like charm, Tanaka proves that to us.
A sparkling, interesting cast
…As I write this, SUI is vaguely aware of it herself. That I'm just praising it and today's article isn't interesting at all (No, don't say 'it's never interesting, right?').
Wait, let me talk a little more lol
It's not just Rena Tanaka who is amazing!
Win Morisaki's acting is also irresistible.
His character, Koki, is a huge scumbag, in a word. But Win (his name already sounds like he's winning, right?) plays Koki with a temperature that makes him somehow likable. The balance is extremely 'just right.'
Koki engages in a fierce battle of wits with Mikako, played by Rena Tanaka. Win's wonderful sensibility stops the audience 'just one step before getting annoyed.' I don't think there are many actors who can do that.
He's always good, but I think he's a very smart person.
Also, I'm astonished by the sense of Yasuyoshi Asuwa, who plays Mikako's husband. I didn't know him, but it seems he was originally a comedian. He's incredibly good. By the way, the husband is also quite a scumbag lol. Ah, I thought, 'Yeah, men like this exist' lol (He was a bit like my ex-husband, so it was annoying).
In addition, Ren Ishikawa, Kenji Iwaya, and Yoshiko Miyazaki draw you into the world of the story. The character of Yumiko Nakamura, who serves as both producer and casting director, is also interesting. Her over-the-top celebrity vibe is delightful.
I'll keep supporting Director Kayano with all my might!
