Results Announcement for the 1st Homu-Homu Cup

The "Homu-Homu Cup"is!

Everything I tweeted yesterday is all there is to it.

Having said that,

A random prize—?

Hehe. You were fooled, weren't you? Please take a look at my usual articles. There is no way I would do something so haphazardly.

Even so, I called for entries yesterday and am announcing the results today.
And I have read everything thoroughly.
I am terrified of my own sense of speed.

However, there is something I must apologize to everyone for.

I didn't even know there was such a call for entries!

This time, due to the fact that I had to read novels in addition to essays, there was a limit to the amount I could handle. Moreover, the Creative Awards have less than 10 days of post-event discussion left, so I had to hurry.

Therefore, I did not use the collaborative magazine, nor did I promote it on X.

If there is anyone who says, "I would have applied if I had known!" I am sorry. Please, look forward to the second one! Please, look forward to the second one! (Bowing in apology).

Now, here are the results.

I will provide comments in the order of application. The winning works will be introduced at the end.

Yoko Ito, "The Story of Tanemaki-tei"

Wow, the structure is extremely interesting.
It is a story about characters confronting their past conflicts, accepting themselves, and learning to be kind to themselves.
I especially loved the feeling of the story unfolding as the scenes changed in chapters 1 and 2. Because the structure is so good, I wanted to know more about the characters!

Rino Yoneta, "How to Get Along with Toilet Paper"

I also received an essay entry!
It's so relaxing lol

You used the interesting item of toilet paper in the title, but you say that for things that don't move the way you want them to, they should have just told you from the beginning. A very interesting perspective!
It's a good essay that conveys the author's personality, saying, "This is just how my personality is!"

Ryoko Konno, "That Hand Dances Suspiciously in the Sky"

I understand this well, but when you fix a TV, you hit it, right?
That's how it is, right?
Speaking as someone who knows analog, it's a 45-degree angle chop.
Ms. Konno's husband gently strokes it. I won't say the punchline, but I didn't see that coming! (I sympathize with the husband lol)

Now, from here on are the winning works.

Special Award (Incredible Potential Award)

Hoemaru-san, "The Night-Shift Nursery Teacher and Me"

I wrote a review of the winning work for the Creative Awards on X.

The story really picked up momentum starting from the "Unhealable Wound" arc in the middle, which the author themselves marked as requiring viewer discretion. This suggests that the first half might have been a bit restrained.

Since the beginning of a novel is so crucial, I wish the meeting scene in the first chapter had been highlighted more (it seems like there's some great material hidden there!)

Special Award (Entertainment Award)

Mikumayutan, "Please Decide Your Bounty"

Creative Award review on X.

As I wrote on X, I read it all in one go! The plot must be very solid. I especially love how the story unfolds after the truth is revealed. I could feel the depth of the world-building that goes beyond just entertainment!

Grand Prix

Shiho Takatsuki, "Transparent Girl"

Creative Award review on X.

To be honest, I was surprised! It was great that the ghost was there at full power from the very beginning. The sudden turn of events from chapter two kept the reader's interest!

Isn't this a full-fledged mystery? I wouldn't be surprised if this work won the Creative Award.

And so, the 1st Homu-Homu Cup has come to an end.
I used so much energy that I lost 3 kilograms in one day (probably). I'm already thin, so I'm going to become transparent myself.

I hope this was helpful to everyone in some small way.
I enjoyed this tension for the first time in a while!

Thank you for participating! Thank you for reading!

※ Reading everyone's work makes me lose my confidence.

It's questionable whether this is even a novel!

I cut it off at an awkward spot!
(Due to the character limit for the entry category...)

An essay written on the deadline day, talk about cutting it too close.
