Nice to meet you | I am Eri Satoi, an Obstetrician and Gynecologist
Self-introduction
Nice to meet you.
My name is Eri Satoi, and I am an obstetrician and gynecologist.
On this account, I provide easy-to-understand information about women's health based on medical evidence.
Reason for posting
Menstrual pain, PMS, birth control pills, HPV vaccines, sexually transmitted infections, fertility treatment, menopause...
I don't want anyone to be too late because they 'didn't know' or 'just endured it.'
With that in mind, I post every day.
Why I became an obstetrician and gynecologist
What first attracted me to obstetrics and gynecology was the dynamic nature of cesarean sections and the wonder of childbirth.
Being present at the moment a new life is born.
The relief and joy when both mother and child safely complete the delivery.
I felt a deep sense of emotion in all of it.
'As an obstetrician and gynecologist, I want to continue this work for the rest of my life.'
I still vividly remember thinking that.
As I continued my work in obstetrics and gynecology, I realized that
it is not 'just about pregnancy and childbirth.'
Obstetrics and gynecology is a medical specialty that can support a woman's entire life.
In building my own career, I also experienced menstrual discomfort, pregnancy, and childbirth.
- Teenagers suffering from menstrual pain every month
- Women in their 20s wondering whether to take birth control pills
- Women in their 30s who want to start trying to conceive but don't know where to begin
- Women in their 40s and 50s feeling anxious about menopausal symptoms
I began to want to be of help at every stage of a woman's life, from puberty to menopause.
That is the appeal of obstetrics and gynecology, and
the reason I find great fulfillment in this work.
A memorable patient
One day, a patient came to the clinic suffering from severe anemia.
'I feel sluggish every day, and work and housework are difficult...'
she said.
During the medical interview, I found she had heavy menstrual bleeding and anemia. Tests identified uterine fibroids as the cause.
When I performed the surgery and saw her getting better and better during follow-up observations, I was truly happy.
A few months later, at the outpatient clinic,
'Thanks to you, doctor, every day has become truly comfortable!'
she said with a smile, and I still cannot forget that.
Proposing a treatment and having the patient be happy that their life has become more comfortable.
That is the greatest reward for me.
I have met many other patients, and
each one of them has helped me grow.
What I value
As an obstetrician and gynecologist, what I value most is
'supporting a woman's life.'
In my practice, I strive to:
- Listen carefully to the anxieties and worries behind the symptoms
- Provide easy-to-understand explanations based on guidelines and evidence (medical basis)
- Think together about the treatment that suits each individual
I want to be a doctor who
'supports a person's life' rather than just 'treating a disease.'
In my private life,
I value time spent with my family more than anything, whether in daily life or on trips.
Because I have children, I can do my best every day.
I try to maintain a regular lifestyle and exercise, and
I enjoy music and live concerts to relieve stress 🎵
Work and private life, I value both.
I spend my days maintaining that balance.
Future vision
Until now, I have been in charge of
general gynecological care and pregnancy/childbirth at hospitals and clinics.
From now on,
I would like to incorporate women's internal medicine, Kampo (herbal medicine), and an internal medicine perspective to further deepen my knowledge regarding women's overall health.
Beyond the framework of gynecology,
I want to become a doctor who can look at a woman's entire body.
What I want to convey with this account
'Delayed response due to lack of knowledge'
'Enduring it'
To ensure that doesn't happen,
I want to provide correct knowledge regarding women's health.
- Those suffering from menstrual pain or PMS
→ I want you to visit a doctor early without enduring it
- Those who want to know about birth control pills or HPV vaccines
→ I want you to know the correct information and make choices that suit you
- Those concerned about fertility treatment or sexually transmitted infections
→ I want you to protect your future with early testing and measures
- Those feeling anxious about menopausal symptoms
→ I want you to know about treatment options without worrying alone
Gynecology should be more accessible.
I want you to know early and deal with it early.
I will run this account with that thought in mind.
