(3) [The entrance to hell was quiet] On the day my life ended, I still drank my morning coffee. -Disappearance Chapter-
■ This story is written based on the author's actual experiences.
・Honestly, I am exposing my shame to the extreme.
・This is a record (non-fiction) of the life I have lived.
・I aim to update almost every day.
[The entrance to hell was quiet]
Even though I had to meet at 5 AM,
I woke up at 4 AM.
The canned coffee I bought yesterday.
It was already completely cold.
Let me try to find a vending machine.
I'll try going outside.
Late January.
It was still pitch black outside.
In that darkness,
I found something glowing all alone.
It was a vending machine
I hadn't noticed when it was bright yesterday.
I pressed for a hot black coffee.
It was warm.
For a body that had spent time in a room without heating,
that first sip soaked in deeply.
When I returned to the room and turned on the TV,
there was no picture.
It was a TV with only sound.
Moreover, the only channel
I could receive was one.
What was playing was
a program that seemed to be a "Singing Weather Forecast."
There,
"Moonlight Shadow" by Mike Oldfield
was playing endlessly.
I still cannot forget
this song.
Because
I would end up listening to this song
every morning for 10 days.
5 o'clock.
I went to the entrance of the apartment
called a "dormitory."
The labor broker had already arrived.
A battered HiAce.
In a beat-up HiAce

"The place you'll be working at is a construction company nearby. From tomorrow, just walk there. Remember the way. You'll be fine if you get there by 6 o'clock."
A straight path from the dormitory.
It doesn't even take 5 minutes to walk.
I ask.
"Um... what should I do about a bath?"
"Just borrow the bath at the construction company. It's free, after all. Once you get used to it, there are plenty of public baths around here. Just ask your seniors if you don't know something."
At the construction company,
a bonfire was being made in a square tin can.

I immediately warmed myself by the fire.
It was warm.
The labor broker
was deep in conversation with someone
who seemed to be from the construction company.
Perhaps because it was still early in the morning,
there was no one else around.
That was when.
"Hey you, is this your first time in a place like this?"
The person who called out to me
was the person from the construction company.
"Don't worry about it.
Everyone on our team is kind."
"I'm the managing director here."
"Until you get used to it, you'll be at the same site as me.
There's an expo in Nagoya coming up, so there are plenty of sites. You can earn money."
I
didn't care if I earned money.
I just
wanted to live quietly for a while.
That alone
would have been enough.
"Good morning."
People started gathering.
By around 5:30 AM,
there were about 20 people.
Everyone is early.
The labor broker said.
"Well, if you don't know something, just ask your seniors."
"That guy over there also started yesterday. You'll get along. Introduce yourself."
A man approached.
"My name is Matsushita. Nice to meet you."
"I've been here since yesterday. The first day is tough, right? Take it easy."
Just a normal conversation.
But,
those words
soaked in deeply.
"Matsushita-san, have you been in this line of work for a long time?"
"Yeah, I've been doing it for 5 years. Though I move from place to place."
"Well, rest assured.
Beginners only go to easy sites."
I felt a little relieved.
(I hope I'm at the same site as Matsushita-san.)
From the bottom of my heart,
I thought so.
Long hair.
Piercings.
Blonde hair.
They were all people who looked scary.
I
kept looking down.
"Alright, time to head out!"
The managing director called out.
"You, you, and you. Follow me."
Matsushita-san
was also called.
It seems we're at the same site.
Thank goodness.
I was really
relieved.
Just for today.
I just have to endure today.
An easy site.
I believed that.
But,
that
would be completely shattered.
For someone with 5 years of experience,
it might have been an easy site.
But,
for me, entering a site for the first time,
a day of hell had begun.
