Fountain pens are great. -PILOT Edition-
Calling all fountain pen lovers!
But only those who use fountain pens for illustration, please.
From ultra-luxury fountain pens costing hundreds of thousands of yen to affordable ones from 100-yen shops, fountain pens have a huge range in price and materials!
While luxury fountain pens are something you want to touch at least once in your life,
cheap ones are also a lot of fun!
Today, I'd like to introduce the fountain pen I use the most!
When it comes to the three major Japanese fountain pen manufacturers,
wouldn't you say they are Pilot, Platinum, and Sailor?
I'm still a beginner, so I only own products from these three companies...
Among them, the one I use often is
Pilot's "Desk Pen."
It's a model positioned at the entry level of their lineup.
There are two types: gold and silver.
The 1,100 yen gold model comes in three types: Broad (M), Fine (F), and Extra Fine (EF).
The 770 yen silver model seems to only come in Extra Fine (EF).
It seems both use a special alloy for the nib. (Stainless steel, perhaps...?)
And the one I like is the 770 yen Extra Fine desk pen!
This pen is amazing! You can use it just like a dip pen.
The drawing feel is firm, so it's like a school pen.
What I like about it is that the ink keeps flowing no matter how fast I move the pen, and I can draw sharp lines even with quick flicks.
And above all, it's easy because it's cartridge-based.
I'd love to draw a manga with just this one pen...
The gold model is slightly softer. You can draw lines with warmth.

Next time, I will write the Platinum edition.
One last word.
To those who say, "Fountain pens are for writing letters!"
I am very sorry! I understand that the manufacturers produce them with that intention.
"The poor fountain pen..." I know!
But I found it! A tool that is fun to draw illustrations with!
Please forgive me...
The fountain pen you are looking for does not seem to be here...
