Do you know "Plamo Wars"? - I wrote this last week #21 -

Hello everyone. I am Naseka.
I define myself as a philosopher and book reviewer.
I define myself as such.

As a book lover,
I do love physical books, but
considering the quantity and
volume,
it has been a long time since I switched primarily to e-books.
(I use Kindle exclusively)

After all, e-books are
・They don't take up space no matter how many you have
・They don't add weight when going out
・You can read them anytime on your smartphone
...and since the convenience outweighs everything for me,
I rarely buy physical books anymore unless it's absolutely necessary.
(Though I still buy a few a year)

But in reality, there are many books I really want to read
that don't easily become
available as e-books.

Especially with old books that
I want to buy and read again,
the frustration when they aren't released
on Kindle
is indescribable.

In the past, I have spent thousands of yen on a single used book,
only to feel even more regret later
when it was published on Kindle.
After that happened a few times, for old books,
I have decided to maintain a wait-and-see attitude,
hoping they might eventually be released on Kindle.

Speaking of a little while ago,
SLAM DUNK was like that.

Also, in terms of famous works,
I would definitely buy and
reread Shinji Mizushima's
"Dokaben" or "Dai Koshien"
if they were released.
(Though the chances seem low)

I check the new Kindle releases every day
looking forward to them like that, but
among relatively minor works,
a manga I had been longing to
"read again"
was recently sold on Kindle.

It was serialized in the 1990s in the boys' magazine
"Comic BomBom" and is a work
based on Gunpla (Gundam plastic models),
titled "Plamo Wars".

There is no bundle page,
but it is 4 volumes in total.

Not long after I started working as a professional,
I was driven by an urge to reread it,
but even after visiting several nearby used bookstores,
I couldn't find it easily.
I've never seen it in manga cafes either.

When I checked for used copies on Amazon,
they were priced at several thousand yen per volume
(over 10,000 yen for the whole set).

Since it's a work for children's magazines,
I'm sure there's a lot of nostalgia bias,
but it's a story where you fight with the sensation of
actually piloting your own modified original Gunpla
in a simulator,
which is content that tickles the heart of any Gundam or Gunpla fan.

Reading from the protagonist's perspective,
it makes you feel like you're piloting a Gundam
and fighting, which is
incredibly exciting.
Especially since it's an original unit
you built yourself.

That said, I don't have the time to read it yet,
so I've just bought it and it's sitting in my backlog,
but once I find the time to finish reading it,
I would definitely like to write a review.

The price is a bit high,
but it is a recommended work,
especially for people of my generation
who were reading it enthusiastically back then.
(It was expensive, but I bought it anyway)

I don't usually recommend books with this much personal hobby bias
in my regular reviews,
so I dared to write about it in this article.
