[ Decode Art ] Economist Deciphering 2026 Chapter 2

Introduction

In the previous chapter, I discussed the reasons why I have been following "The Economist" for many years, reflected on actual cases, and explained the significance of decoding. I also explained that the covers of "The World Ahead" series since 2022 symbolize "Sphere within Sphere," and the decoding method of overlaying a clock face onto the cover art to create a 12-month schedule.

In this article, I will compare the cover art divided by a method other than 12 months with the actual events that occurred in the six months from January to June 2026, and verify their consistency. Furthermore, I will decipher the symbolic motifs depicted in the remaining latter half to predict what kind of events may occur in the future.

Let us begin with the story of a calendar where a year is not twelve months.

Decode

・?? months

The calendar I am using this time is not the 12-month solar calendar that was forced upon our country since the Meiji era, but a rare calendar called the "International Fixed Calendar."

This International Fixed Calendar is one of the solar calendar reform proposals suggested by Moses B. Cotsworth in 1902. A year consists of "28 days x 13 months = 364 days", with one or two adjustment days added to make 365 days. This calendar is called a perpetual calendar, a unique calendar where every date falls on the same day of the week every year.

Therefore, a calendar where the 13th is always a Friday. For those who claim to have their origins in the Knights Templar, it becomes a very symbolic calendar.

　For those who spread "13" as an unlucky number, and use it themselves.

　Now, let's divide the Economist cover into 13 months and add the names of each month.

　From here on, we will overlay the cover art with actual events one month at a time. I think you will be horrified around the 7th month, which is Sol. (*In the International Fixed Calendar, a month called Sol is inserted between June and July)

Month-by-month Decode

・Jan. 1/1–1/28

"Blue fist with handcuffs" and "Venezuela intervention"

• Actual event: On January 3rd, by order of President Trump, the United States carried out a military intervention in Venezuela, "Operation Absolute Resolve." U.S. special forces raided the presidential palace in Caracas and detained President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. They were immediately transported to New York to be indicted on drug trafficking charges.

• Consistency of Symbols: The 'fist in blue handcuffs' symbolizes the United States. There are two reasons for this. First, the cake marked '250' in the center of the cover, from which the fist is emerging, represents the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. The second reason is that the motif of handcuffs symbolizes the country's position as what was once called the 'world's police.' Furthermore, the military actions on the third day of the solar calendar year well symbolize 2026, a year entering a new phase.
  
  

・Feb. & Mar. 1/29–3/25

'Pentekonter' and 'Pandora's Box'

• Actual Events: On February 28, the 'US and Israeli attack on Iran', 'Operation Epic Fury', began, targeting Iranian military and nuclear facilities. This attack resulted in the decisive event of the assassination of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Trump claimed the legitimacy of this attack by stating, 'It is to prevent an imminent threat to the United States,' but since the Iran nuclear talks were scheduled to resume at the working level the following week, 'no such threat existed.' It was a repeat of the same thing that happened when they 'invaded Iraq citing weapons of mass destruction as the reason.

• Actual Events: In early March, as a retaliatory measure, Iran 'closed the Strait of Hormuz, a globally vital shipping route. This cut off 20% of the world's oil supply, leading to the 'greatest energy crisis in history', surpassing the 1970s. Fuel prices soared across the globe, and even now, half a year later, it remains unresolved.

• Consistency of Symbols: The sail of the ancient ship, a penteconter, depicted on the cover features a Greek key pattern. These evoke Homer's "Odyssey", one of the oldest extant works of literature. There are two key themes in this epic:
  
  ・"Nostos (return/homecoming, wandering, hospitality to strangers)"
  ・"Xenia (trials, revenge)"
  
  From the perspective of the mysteries, the story of the Odyssey is the same "prodigal son" narrative as Hercules, and "Xenia (trials, revenge)" is strongly symbolized. Furthermore, the fact that the figure on the ship is carefully holding an amphora 🏺 reinforces the aforementioned idea. This is because the amphora symbolizes the famous "Pandora's box." *(While "box" is the common term for Pandora's vessel, it was actually a "jar" like an amphora.)
  
  Therefore, the months of Feb & Mar are symbolized by "trials/revenge" and "a box filled with calamities." Operation Epic Fury and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz can truly be said to have opened a modern-day Pandora's box. It is evident that these two will become the calamity of a Third World War triggered by an energy crisis.

　Coincidentally, I should add that the film "Odyssey" will be released on this year's 9/11.

・Apr. 3/26 - 4/22

"Red Tank" and "Intensification of Ground Warfare"

"Prime Minister of India" and "Prime Minister of Italy" and "Reorganization of National Politics and Policy"

• Actual Events/Military: The Iran War expanded into a "multi-faceted missile crisis," with the conflict spreading from the entire Middle East to Lebanon, the Red Sea, and the Indian Ocean, and ground warfare intensifying. As a result, crude oil prices surged to $98.60 per barrel by the end of April, and the pressure on the global economy increased day by day.

• Actual Events/India: In April 2026, India began data collection for its first "large-scale census" in 16 years. This survey, covering a population of 1.45 billion, includes sensitive data related to caste and is said to be the most important and controversial survey since independence.

• Actual Events/Italy: Italy is highly dependent on Mediterranean trade routes, and the disruption of supply chains due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz has become a "major national security issue." Prime Minister Meloni has developed a diplomatic strategy to promote "EU-GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) rapprochement" to ensure the security of Mediterranean trade routes (the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor: IMEC).

• Symbolic Consistency: The "red tank" and the outermost "figure of a tank drawn in red lines firing its cannon" in this section are believed to suggest the intensification of military actions by both the West and the East, and that an unavoidable ground war is becoming a reality. Furthermore, while the impact of the Strait of Hormuz blockade is hitting Italy directly, this is not limited to Italy; countries around the world are facing energy problems to varying degrees. And in the ensuing chaos, the reorganization of national policies and governance has begun, as seen in India. Of course, the same applies to our country.
  
  

・May 4/23–5/20

"AI & Drone Weapons" and "Blue Parabolic Antenna"

• Actual Events: On May 1, 2026, the U.S. Department of Defense announced an agreement with eight major technology companies, including Google and OpenAI, to introduce AI systems into classified network environments. The goal is to support soldier decision-making and streamline data integration in complex operational environments. Drones and AI, introduced since the Ukraine-Russia war, have now become essential necessities for warfare, and massive amounts of funding are being poured into them.

• Actual Events: On May 12, 2026, the U.S. Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released a report stating that the "Golden Dome" missile defense initiative proposed by the Trump administration could cost $1.2 trillion (189 trillion yen) to develop.

• Symbolic Consistency: Symbols such as "ground-based drone weapons" and "blue parabolic antennas" overlap with actual military news, such as the military application of drones and the strengthening of missile defense networks. The tools of war have entered the next generation.

・Jun. 5/21–6/17

"Giant Syringe and Pills" and "From Curative Medicine to Enhancement Medicine"

"Melting Ice"

• Actual events: In early 2026, the patents for active ingredients in major obesity drugs (such as semaglutide) expired in massive markets like Brazil, China, and India. Consequently, inexpensive generic drugs flooded the market, expanding access to those who previously could not afford the high costs and to those who are not ill. A good example is the diabetes medication represented by Mounjaro, which became a hot topic in Japan as well. The new concept of people who are not even sick relying on drugs to diet spread explosively.

• Actual events: From May 21st to 24th, the Enhanced Games, a sports competition that permits doping, was held in Las Vegas. By discarding the traditional ethics of sports, a new concept was formed: how high can humans reach through drug enhancement? A conceptual shift occurred where therapeutic drugs for curing illnesses were reframed as obesity treatments, and previously illegal doping was reframed as performance-enhancing medicine. The concept of transhumanism—

• Actual events: Melting ice indicates heat waves caused by abnormal weather. In late June, it was announced that the number of deaths attributed to heat (excess deaths) in the 27 EU member states reached 10,650.

"Sports Festivals" and "Rituals"

• Actual events: From June 11th to July 19th, the FIFA World Cup was held, and the world was painted in the colors of soccer. Furthermore, on June 14th (Trump's birthday), four days before entering the month of Sol, the first-ever UFC martial arts event (an organization that grew through Trump's investment) was held on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington D.C. It is customary for the ruling class to perform symbolic rituals during the "circus" part of "bread and circuses." What appear to the general public as performances are, from the perspective of symbolists, clear rituals. Let's look at one example.

　So why do they perform these rituals so openly?

- Why are rituals performed in the month of Sol?

The Christian ruling class practices sun worship, venerating Jesus as the personification of the sun, so the month of Sol, which includes the summer solstice when the sun reaches its highest altitude of the year, is very important. This is also evident from the fact that the Christian solar calendar was forced upon our country, Japan, which used a lunar calendar, starting in the Meiji era.

Also, since the Bible originates from Judaism, Christians have inherited the sacred numbers of Judaism and place great importance on the number '7'. In the International Fixed Calendar of 13 months, the 7th month is Sol, further increasing its importance.

Now, let's digress slightly from the Economist's story and look at the International Fixed Calendar from a more symbolic perspective. You will be able to better understand the importance of the month of Sol.

The solar calendar week has seven days, and the names of each day of the week are the names of ancient gods. When these are placed on the Jewish Menorah, the center is the sun. The order of the days of the week that the general public thinks of as 'starting on Monday and ending on Sunday' is actually the following order centered on the sun.

So, what is the mechanism behind the names of the months in the International Fixed Calendar? Since the names of the days of the week are those of ancient gods, the names of the months are the same.

The names of the thirteen months in English all originate from ancient Rome and are mainly classified into three categories: "gods/rituals," "emperors (politicians)," and "Latin numbers". Let's classify them according to the flow of the year.

• Months derived from Roman gods and rituals (January to June)

  • January: Janus, the god of beginnings and endings

  • February: Februa, the ritual of purification

  • March: Mars, the god of war and agriculture

  • April: Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty (various theories exist)

  • May: Maia, the goddess of fertility

  • June: Juno, the goddess of marriage and family

  • Sol:Sol, the sun god
    

• Months derived from great leaders of Ancient Rome (July and August)

  • July: Dictator in perpetuity 'Julius Caesar'

  • August: First Roman Emperor 'Augustus'
    

• Months derived from Latin numbers (September to December) *In the ancient Roman calendar, March was the 'first month,' so the numbers remain shifted by two months.

  • September: Latin for '7 (septem)'

  • October: Latin for '8 (octo)'

  • November: Latin for '9 (novem)'

  • December: Latin for '10 (decem)'

While the names of the days of the week were based solely on gods, the names of the months of the year are classified into three categories: 'gods and rituals', 'emperors (politicians)', and 'Latin numbers', but ultimately the mechanism is the same.

Now, let's arrange the 13 months according to the mechanism of the Menorah, just as we did with the week.

　Looking at it this way, it is obvious. Just as Sunday, the day of the sun, is the center of the week, the center of the thirteen-month year is the month of Sol, which represents the sun.

　Therefore, those who worship the sun place great importance on the 'month of Sol' and perform rituals during that month.

　And as an aside, when arranged in this configuration, if you add the numbers of the months paired on the left and right, the answer for every pair becomes '13'.

Summary

　Looking back at the six months from January 2026 to Sol, the seventh month, a certain degree of consistency was confirmed between the symbols on the cover and actual events. They are summarized and listed below.

• Jan.: The 'blue fist and handcuffs' symbolized the U.S. military intervention in Venezuela and the detention of President Maduro.
  

• Feb. & Mar.: The 'Pandora's box' foreshadowed by ancient ships and amphorae. The attack on Iran (Operation Epic Fury) and the subsequent outbreak of a global energy crisis due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
  

• Apr.: The intensification of ground warfare indicated by the 'red tank' and the reorganization of national policies in Italy and India stemming from the Middle East situation.
  

• May: The full-scale introduction of AI weapons embodied by the 'drone and parabolic antenna' and the emergence of next-generation warfare with massive budgets being poured into it.
  

• Jun.: The shift from 'curative medicine to enhancement medicine' indicated by the 'syringe and pills.' The concept of transhumanism has advanced one step further, such as with the holding of sports tournaments that permit doping.
  

• Sol (the seventh month): As the center of the 13 months and the most sacred month in sun worship, symbolic rituals were performed behind the 'circus' that enthralled the masses, such as the Soccer World Cup and martial arts events at the White House.

　In this way, it has become clear that each of the patterns drawn on the cover is not merely a design, but a precisely predicted 'movement of the year'.
