[Super Important] Why you should absolutely never buy paid notes through the app? And my gratitude to the 4 creators who changed me, plus a look back at my journey so far

This is sudden, but.

I previously made a discovery of the century on note (lol).

It's okay if you don't read it. I'm going to write the exact same thing in this article right now.

When I wrote this article.
I was under the impression that you shouldn't introduce other creators' articles without permission (I didn't even have the concept of asking for permission yet).

The 'comment on a certain creator's article' mentioned in the article above—I didn't mention which creator's article it was,
but it was that person who is at the top of the Azunaburu top commenter ranking.

Originally, the reason I started note was

Threads (Meta's SNS).

'Threads x note' is just so profitable.

That was the trigger, after seeing many posts like that on Threads.

Because of that, at first, I only bought paid notes specialized in SNS traffic.
(Honestly, there were many notes that lacked specificity, as if they were made with generative AI...😑😑)

At that time,

while browsing note, I noticed a creator with a very easy-to-understand, gentle writing style. That was

'Marimo'-san.

This is the first comment I gathered the courage to write before purchasing their work. (I took the screenshot today, so my icon is from after my account was reborn.)

Since I believed in the Threads x note type of articles,

I was wondering whether to suddenly release a paid note,

but now I am truly
glad I didn't (lol).

I don't think a single one would have sold.

Now, to the main point.

I'll start with the conclusion:
when buying paid notes,

you absolutely must not buy them through the app.

This is important, so I'll say it again.

Do not buy paid notes through the app. Absolutely not.

Because, between the app and the browser,
the prices are completely different.

I didn't know this at first,

and I've lost at least 10,000 yen

by a conservative estimate. 😭😭😭

In the case of the app,

→you are required to buy points, and those points are set at a higher price than the actual list price to begin with.

That's how it works.

Let me give you an example. For instance, if you buy my paid note.

I currently have the sale price of this note set to

680 yen,

but if you try to buy it through the app, this is what happens.

When you proceed to the next screen,

680 yen

For some reason, you are forced to pay
980 yen to buy an article that costs 680 yen.

The reason is

on the app, you don't pay the displayed price directly, but are forced to buy it with points.

And to make matters worse,

the number of points does not equal the displayed price. You might think 680 points equals 680 yen, but

in reality, it is 980 yen. (700 points)
If you use the app, fees (for note) are included, and the price is marked up.

Are you listening?

This difference is quite significant, you know?

For example, if you buy a paid article for 5,980 yen, it costs exactly 5,980 yen from a browser, but on the app,

it turns into something this terrifying.

Are you prepared?

What I want you to look at here is

how much money you actually have to pay
to cover the missing points,

that is the question.

If you are good at math, you might be able to calculate it right away.

First, the amount is closest to the points.

5260 points (7000 yen)

you need to charge. At this point, it becomes significantly more expensive than the original price of 5980 yen.

Moreover, this is not enough.

To cover the remaining 730 points, since a 700-point charge is not enough, you must pay for
an additional

1030 points (worth 1400 yen)

you have to pay.

In other words, where you could have just paid the displayed

5980 yen

by purchasing through a browser, you end up having to pay

8400 yen (7000 yen + 1400 yen)

when using the app.

So, what should you do?

Switch from the app to the browser.

You can do it in seconds.

I feel that

this useful information should be delivered to many people.
However, I am glad that I was able to realize this fact
when I had not yet achieved my 0 to 1 milestone.

Because

I was able to calmly notice it and share it from the perspective of a purchaser.

I truly feel that if I had succeeded in monetization immediately, I would never have gained this perspective.

Honestly, after publishing my first paid note,

I was suffering from burnout syndrome

and had hardly done any rewriting.

My first paid note was
sold after I had planned out a strategy to some extent, so it sold a little at first.

But after that, it didn't sell at all.

I felt relieved to have achieved 0 to 1 and didn't try to improve the current situation. I didn't take action.

The 70,000 yen worth of paid notes I bought

are not being rewarded.

I haven't recovered the costs at all.

So, the other day, I asked Eigyo fafa-san, whom I have trusted immensely since my early days on note,

for an unbiased evaluation of my paid articles.

To be honest, I had received a fair number of high ratings and comments relative to the number of purchases, so I was quite confident (lol).

But when I actually saw the evaluation that came back from fafa-san,

I was stunned to find out there were several other small, disappointing points.

But at that time, I

even though I had received valuable opinions from a creator with a proven track record in monetization,

I was satisfied just by receiving the feedback and didn't rewrite the articles.

That is the worst possible pattern.

Partly because I am busy with work every day,

"Come to think of it, I need to rewrite those..."

I thought, but days went by without me doing anything.

One day, that happened.

"This really isn't working. What am I doing? Wasn't I supposed to be serious about monetization...?"

I felt so incredibly pathetic.

What was the point of buying all those paid notes until now?

What was the point of joining Tarao Girls?

I let the momentum of those feelings take over and rewrote the article based on fafa-san's advice.

And then.

Without even promoting it myself,
on the same day

two copies of the article

sold.😳😳

This is entirely because fafa-san's advice was spot on.

Everyone.

Paid notes won't sell unless you take action.
Many people know this in their heads. I was one of them.

Just knowing it in your head will never make them sell.

And there is one more person.

Normally, I would never do such a thing.
After all, he is a super popular, charismatic creator with over 4,000 followers.

He must receive dozens of messages a day,
and in the first place, he is not someone a lower-ranked creator like me should be contacting so casually.

That's what I had convinced myself.

But the many useful articles delivered within his membership, Tarao Girls.

This person genuinely wants other creators to succeed in monetization.

Without any regard for his own profit.
(He has achieved FIRE, but even so, he is someone who doesn't seek any reward at all.)

If I didn't contact him now,

I felt like I would regret it for the rest of my life.

So, with trembling fingers, I sent him a DM.

Ah, I'm sure I don't know if I'll get a reply.
Even if I do, it'll probably be a month from now.
It's probably a nuisance, maybe I shouldn't have sent it... 😣

Then, in less than a day, I received a reply with quite a lot of content.

We weren't personal best friends, and we hadn't had deep interactions until now.

I was simply

a member of Tarao Girls
that's all.
Of course, we had interacted in the comments a few times before regarding introduction articles.

But for him to face my questions so seriously with only that kind of relationship,
and to give me a reply after thinking about the content.

That's when I thought,

This person is the real deal.

And then there is Manatsu-san, who is currently helping me out so much.

Although I had known about her for a while, for a timid person like me, she was someone who was charging ahead full steam,

a creator who seemed to live in a different world,

so I just watched her from afar, dazed.

But recently, thanks to fafa-san's unbiased evaluation, the landscape of my note has changed, so I thought, 'I'll just take action!'

I took the plunge and joined her membership.

And then, unbelievably, so many things started moving forward rapidly.

Being able to observe her rare energy up close and peek into the secrets behind the influence of her account,

I was convinced that this is definitely a necessary element for my growth right now.

I am sure of it.

Honestly, our social backgrounds are a little different.

Compared to her, I think there are times when it is harder for me to find the time. But in order to grow, now is the time to cling on for dear life.

Above all, like the other creators, Manatsu-san is someone who sincerely wishes for the growth of her peers, not just her own.

In response to that, I want to follow in her footsteps.

The reason I am where I am today is thanks to the people I introduced above, as well as the other creators I interact with on a daily basis.

If I were on my own, I would never have reached this point, and monetization would have been a dream within a dream.

honestly, I am still only halfway there.

And my paid notes are far from being what you would call 'best-sellers'.

But.

Compared to when I was at zero,

I am definitely moving forward.

I can say that with confidence.

Looking back,

The reason I am able to continue sharing my voice like this is thanks to all of you.

And it is because I chewed on what I was taught, digested it in my own words, and put it into action.

I believe it comes down to that.

When I received feedback from fafa-san,

honestly, it made me feel uneasy.

There were some criticisms where I thought, 'Are you really going that far?' (laughs)

But now I understand.

Those weren't words meant to crush me,

but words meant to take me to the next stage.

The same goes for the DM I sent to Hitotarao-san and joining Manatsu-san's membership. That message I sent with trembling fingers. The 'Join' button I took a leap of faith to press.

If I hadn't taken that step, the me of today would definitely not exist.

There really is a view that only those who take action can see.

I myself am not a perfect creator yet.
I will likely fail again in the future,
and I think I will end up rewriting things many times.
