Taking Action Changes Your Life: Learning from Failure Shapes Your Future Self
Getters Iida has compiled a book featuring
important insights for each of the 365 days of the year. It is a book that
gently reminds us of things we tend to forget in our daily lives, using
kind words.
I want to accumulate new insights in my daily life. With that in mind, I am
updating this daily. I would be happy if you could
read it at the start of your day.
This time, I thought about Getters Iida's Stories to Improve Your Luck in 365 Days, specifically the entry for June 19th,
Know, Act, Fail, and Learn.

In this day and age, we can easily obtain a wealth of information from books and the internet.
・Increasing your knowledge.
・Learning from someone else's experience.
These are very important things. However, just knowing them will not significantly change your life.
I believe that by actually taking action, experiencing things, and sometimes failing, it becomes true learning
.
■ Experience shapes you more than knowledge
"Knowing" and "being able to do" are different things.
No matter how many methods for success you know, if you don't actually take that first step, it won't become your own experience.
・The frustration of failing.
・The ingenuity when things don't go as planned.
・The courage to try again.
All of that becomes your own unique treasure.
■ The process is more important than the result
In life, we sometimes focus too much on the results.
・Did I succeed?
・Did I fail?
Of course, results are important, but what might be
even more important is the process leading up to them.
・What did you think about?・What kind of effort did you make?・What did you learn from it?
That accumulation leads to your next opportunity.
■ Failure is not a reason to stop, but a time to learn
When you fail, you may sometimes think,
"I knew I couldn't do it after all."
However, failure is not bad luck, but time to gain more experience.
There are things you can only realize because you failed.
The experiences of being hurt and the time spent taking detours
become wisdom that will help your future self.
■ Don't hit the brakes from the start
If you think too much about how
"it looks difficult"
or
"what if I fail?"
before you even start something new, time will pass without anything changing.
Of course, there is no need to take reckless challenges.
But,you can take a small step starting today.
・Just 5 minutesto try it out.
・A little bitof research and action.
・Trytalkingto someone.
That small actionbecomes the catalyst for changing your future.
■ Growing while in motion
You will have worries even if you do nothing.
You will have worries even if you take on challenges.
If you are going to worry anyway, experiencing things while moving forward allows you to see new scenery
.
Fail, think, and move again.
In that repetition,
I believe peoplegrow little by little.
Try turning just one thing you learned todayinto action.
Even a small step
might be the beginning of great growth when viewed from your future self.
