To provide the most relevant responses, Gemini in Chrome uses content from your current browser tab. On a computer, you can also share up to 10 open tabs with Gemini.
What you need
Important: Gemini in Chrome is not available to all users at this time. We’re gradually releasing Gemini in Chrome, so it might not be available to you just yet.
To use Gemini in Chrome on your iPhone or iPad, you need to:
- Be 18 or over and in a supported region.
- Use the latest version of Chrome. Learn how to update Chrome.
- Sign in to Chrome. This feature isn’t available in Incognito mode. Learn how to sign in to Chrome.
- Set your device settings to use a supported language.
If you use Gemini in Chrome with a work or school Google Account, access must be enabled by your administrator. Learn more about using Gemini Apps with a work or school Google Account.
Chat with Gemini in Chrome
- On your iPhone or iPad, open Chrome

- At the top of your browser, tap Page tools

- You’ll need to opt in the first time you use Gemini in Chrome. To opt in, follow the onscreen instructions.
- To start a chat, tap Ask Gemini

- By default, your current page is shared with Gemini in Chrome. You can stop sharing the page anytime by tapping Stop sharing current page

What you can do with Gemini in Chrome
When you use Gemini in Chrome, a floating chat box appears where you can chat directly with Gemini. You can continue to browse Chrome while you wait for Gemini to generate an answer and reopen the conversation when ready. Here are examples of what you can ask Gemini in Chrome to do:
- Summarize key takeaways from an article
- Explain a complex topic in a different way
- Help you test your knowledge of a new subject you’re learning
- Modify a recipe to meet dietary needs
- Compare information or make recommendations based on your preferences
Manage your chat with Gemini in Chrome
In the Gemini in Chrome chat box, you can:
- Stop sharing the page: on the page in the chat box, tap Stop sharing page

- Share the page: above the chat box, tap Ask about page.
- Start a new chat: at the top, tap Start new chat
.
- Minimize the chat: Tap the tab in the background or scroll the screen.
- Bring the chat back: If you minimized the chat box, tap the Chrome address bar or scroll up the page to bring the chat back.
- See more or less of the chat: Drag the bar at the top of the Gemini chat box to expand or shrink the conversation.
- Close the chat: On the right side of the chat box, click Close
Use suggestions to chat with Gemini in Chrome
When you chat with Gemini in Chrome, suggested actions may appear over the chat box. This includes things like:
- Summarize page: Tap to get key takeaways and insights that help you understand any topic.
- Create FAQ about this topic: Tap to get FAQs based on info from this page and similar sites.
If you tap a link in your chat, it opens a new tab. To continue your conversation, start Gemini over in the new tab or switch back to your previous tab.
Fix or report a problem & give feedback
If you can’t find or use Gemini in ChromeImportant: Gemini in Chrome is rolling out to users over time, so it may not be available in your country or territory yet. It’s also not accessible on Google Search result pages.
If Gemini in Chrome is available in your country or territory, try these steps:
- Sign in to your Chrome browser. Gemini in Chrome is not available in Incognito mode.
- Update your Chrome browser to the latest version. Learn how to update Chrome.
