'Scent of the Past' Achievement
I've completed the six choices at the beginning of 'scent of the past' mission, with beasts on frozen pond, and haven't got the associated achievement. What did others do to get it?

I've won all 6 of the individual confrontations at the beginning, and fought as both Anne and the Adventurer Dorori. Irene (never change) has four 'child labour exploitation!' identical choices, and the Dorori has a choice of four bonuses in his fight with Anne. Having played through the mission 8 times (lost with Irene against Luna once) if I need to play through a further 8 times for literally every choice, I'm going to say the achievement really isn't worth it!

I absolutely didn't go along with every sub-choice and I got the achievement. Did you go through the whole mission each time, or did you abandon after everyone joined up? I can't say whether or not it's necessary, but when I got it I completed the entire mission each time.
I went through the whole mission each time.
Remember that for Sion you also have the option to run away from the fight - it gives you a REALLY good mastery by the way, better reward than the achievo.

I did the full clear with all characters and with Sion I did it twice, I got the achievo that way.

A note on going for masteries: after the choice of character, it doesn't really matter what you do. It will affect what mastery you receive a COPY of, but you get the ability to research any others. Same for earlier mission choices, like the prologue mission or the one where Albus is having a heart to heart with Sion.

Ran away with Sion, didn't get the achievement, redid Albus vs Giselle, and THEN I got it. Before completing the game I lost the mission once or twice when beasts escaped from the park so those playthroughs must not have counted.

Thanks for the reminder about Sion's option to run away, which I certainly forgot about when he blasted both transporter brothers with one shot. I didn't get a mastery, but got one with Ray walking away from Isaac, so it must be on whichever path you do first.

Heixing's option had such important background on Kylie and him that it should probably have been in the main storyline. 'The fortress of suffering' and 'Hyouka(?)' are still rather obscure to my mind.

Honestly, for missions like this, I just wish you played all of it in one go without needing to repeat the last bit of the monsters trying to escape over and over...

Then there's another one where you have to choose A or B options, both have the SAME effect on the upcoming battle but they give slightly different flavour text and a different mastery reward. I didn't understand why have the option at all, might as well give both rewards and no option to choose since there's no changes. Luckily this only happens once.
I really feel like this mission in particular is very poorly put together.
I already think it's a baffling choice to not just automatically do each member's individual story back-to-back, you're missing out on so much information if you don't repeat the mission in the case records.
But on top of this, if you do go back in the case records, you need to complete the ENTIRE mission if you want the completion of the paths to count, which is made worse by the mission being, in my opinion, one of the least fun missions, since a single beast slipping by unnoticed is instant defeat.
Lastly, the individual character segments don't connect to the main mission narritavely. One moment you can have your ass handed to you by Luna as Irene, and the next moment she's just at full health in the same position with her team and wthout any acknowledgement of what just happened.
