Comparison to XCOM2
Anyone play both of these games?

On the surface, Troubleshooter *seems* to be an straightforward XCOM2 clone with anime styling and a crimefighting theme.

But I've only done the first mission.

Does it eventually diverge from XCOM2 and start adding it's own mechanics?

Played both.

While heavily inspired by xcom, TAC absolutely stands apart with its own unique systems (masteries, crafting, pets etc) that makes it worth a play.
It's more like you're playing a team of comic book superheroes than building a military force. Characters are set and each have limited options for classes. Beyond that though, you can assign various masteries (basically skills), equipment and interpersonal synergies however you want.

Biggest downside to the game for me has been the pace. Between dialog, unit animations and various effects being triggered, turns can take a really long time.

If I remember correctly, you can speed up the animations right?
The dialogue though, has a LOT of filler, I reccommend skipping through most of it, especially when it's enemies talking.

I'll check on the animation speed next session. I haven't tried yet because the size of the maps would make it difficult to track what's happening if it were faster. If I could speed it up, it might then take more time to survey the results of all the moves. (In principle though, I like some of the design in the big scenario maps.)

Given the story is so linear, I've been mostly following it. The writing can be pretty inefficient at times, but there are some good moments, so I haven't taken to skipping it all. (I do skip a lot of the merchant banter though.)
Spent about 2000hrs in X-COM/UFO seires, just started to play this game.

It seems like XCOM2 indeed, yet it has "speed" stat which you may consider as a TimeUnit from earlier XCOM (I meants XCOM's from 90th), but not straightforward.

For now, it looks much more fantasy rather than technplogy, plus, variety of builds seems much much wider than in any XCOM. Complicity of character building is seem to be higher as well.

I like the game so far.

You definitely can! You can make them very fast if you want.

Adding: Even with the speed up it can be harsh. I think part of the problem is I tend to split my team into squads to cover more area, so that triggers more enemy involvement, which makes the turns longer and demands more extreme camera swings.
