Sacred Heart University

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sacred Heart University is a private, Roman Catholic university in Fairfield, Connecticut. The university has about 6,023 students. It was founded in 1963. The current president of the university is John J. Petillo.

The athletics teams of the university are called the Pioneers. They have 31 varsity teams, most of which compete in the Metro Conference (known before July 2026 as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Several teams in sports not sponsored by the Metro play elsewhere. Most notably, the football team plays in CAA Football, the technically separate football arm of the Coastal Athletic Association, and the men's ice hockey team competes in Atlantic Hockey America.
