From our charity’s beginning to the present day, the maritime sector in Scotland recognises that there is a need to financially support our loyal workforce in times of need. Whilst there are many worthwhile charities aimed at seafarers, the SSBA is the only charity focused specifically at people who have worked in a shore-side maritime role within Scotland, which accounts for approximately 35,000 people.
