July 12th is my second birthday
July 12th is my second birthday.
It is the day I took a new step forward after successfully completing a 7-hour surgery using the surgical robot 'hinotori'.
Exactly two years have passed since that day.
Looking back, so many things have happened.
Due to the side effects of chemotherapy, I still have numbness in my feet. Even so, I have recovered to the point where I can walk and even run a little.
I lost all my hair during treatment, but it has grown back properly. It is even shinier than before, and I find that short hair actually suits me quite well.
'Will I ever be able to live a healthy life again?'
Thinking back to when I held such anxieties, I am incredibly grateful to be able to spend these ordinary days as I do now.

At one point, the words of Kirin Kiki caught my eye.
You realize it when you get sick,
that life isn't that long after all.
I truly think that is exactly right.
However, I am not being pessimistic.
Rather,
'I was able to spend today in good health'
'May I be healthy tomorrow as well'
I have come to cherish these small moments of happiness.

There is a place I want to go next year.
To see the beautiful snow sculptures at the Sapporo Snow Festival in winter.
To walk with these very feet through the mystical forests of Yakushima.
Being able to envision future plans is also a great happiness for me.
While being grateful that I could welcome this day, I want to continue to get along well with my body.
