Why Men's Diets Fail: The Essentials Professionals Want You to Know
"I'm cutting back on food but not losing weight."
"It's harder to lose body fat than it used to be."
"Only my belly fat remains."
I receive these kinds of consultations from male clients very often.
But in reality, in most cases, it's not that your method is wrong, but rather that your mindset is off.
This time, from a trainer's perspective, I will share the mindset for dieting that men truly need.
💡
The idea that 'high metabolism means men can lose weight even with a sloppy approach' is a thing of the past
When you were younger, many of you probably lost weight just by:
✔ Skipping meals
✔ Just exercising
✔ Reducing carbohydrates
However, after your 30s:
🟡 Decreased muscle mass
🟡 Work stress
🟡 Lack of sleep
🟡 Visceral fatigue
These factors pile up, and
it becomes harder to get results with the same methods.
In other words, men have entered a phase where 'strategy' is more necessary than 'guts'.
Men's Diet Basics ①
First, adjust 'how you eat' rather than 'how much you eat' 🍽️
Common mistakes include:
❌ Just reducing the amount
❌ Extremely reducing food only at night
This leads to:
・Muscle loss
・Lowered metabolism
・Easier rebound
For men in particular,
protecting muscle equals protecting your ability to lose weight.
The points are:
✔ Include protein in every meal
✔ Do not completely cut out carbohydrates
✔ Choose the 'quality' of fats
Rather than reducing,adjustingcomes first.
Men's Diet Basics ②
The correct approach to exercise is 'don't overdo it' 🏃♂️
"I run every day."
"I push myself hard with strength training."
It looks stoic, but men who haven't recovered from fatigue should be careful ⚠️
💥 Cortisol (stress hormone) is high
💥 Belly fat is hard to lose
💥 Appetite becomes irregular
You are likely to enter a vicious cycle.
What I recommend is:
🟢 Strength training 2-3 times a week
🟢 Light cardio or increasing daily activity
🟢 Making sure to have rest days
Separating 'days to work out' and 'days to rest'will speed up your results.
Men's Diet Basics ③
Know why only your belly won't shrink 🧠
The thing men worry about most is the
"potbelly."
This is largely related to:
・Visceral fat
・Stress
・Lack of sleep
・Irregular eating rhythms
Even if you work hard on your abs,
✔ Sleep
✔ Meal times
✔ Tension during work
If these aren't adjusted, it won't change easily.
Think of your belly as a
report card for your lifestyle habits📊
Summary 🌷
The most important thing in a man's diet ✨
✔ Adjust before reducing
✔ Protect your muscles
✔ Don't try too hard
✔ Look at your whole life
Dieting is not a 'task of pushing yourself',
but a task of
optimizingyour body.If you adjust it correctly,
a man's body will respond properly 💪
It may look like a detour,
but this is the shortest path.
