The time I let AI handle my blog and it published an 'earnings report' I never wrote

One day, while looking at my blog, I stopped in my tracks.

“1-Month Blog Management Report | All PV and Earnings Revealed”

I have no memory of writing an article like that!!

When I opened it, there it was: monthly PV, a breakdown of earnings, and even a neat graph. It proudly stated, “I made several thousand yen in my first month,” and so on...

My blog's earnings are 0 yen.

The culprit was the AI I had been using.

I use AI to help create my blog posts. It helps me brainstorm structures, write drafts, and then I edit and publish them. It's been a huge help.

However, I think at some point, the conversation led to, “Make a management report post, too.” The AI dutifully created one.With numbers that didn't exist.

AI is a tool for creating “plausible-sounding text.” If you ask it for an earnings report, it will invent “plausible numbers” even if it doesn't have the actual data. It does so confidently, with zero malice.

I knew this, but the cold shiver I felt the moment I saw “fictional achievements” published on my own blog was something knowledge couldn't prevent.

What scared me was the thought that “I might not have noticed.”

At the time, I was in the middle of trying to apply for Google AdSense (the screening process to place ads on a blog).

If I had applied without noticing... the more I thought about it, the more I shuddered.

I immediately set the article to private and started atotal inspection of all articles. I found unverified reward amounts like “up to X amount.” Numbers that the AI had inflated out of kindness (?).

I spent several weeks checking everything.

The rules I decided on after that

My blog now has rules.

“AI writes. Humans verify. Humans take 100% responsibility.”

All numbers must be verified against real screens. I do not write that I have “experienced” something I haven't. I also disclose everything about the AI I use and how I create my content on the blog.

By the way, I failed the AdSense screening. I am recording that without hiding it, too. It's embarrassing, but I believe this “embarrassing record” is the only thing that an AI cannot write.

To you who write blogs with AI

AI is a truly amazing tool. I still use it every day.

However, just one thing.Please always verify the numbers and personal experiences written by AI with your own eyes. AI will create non-existent achievements with a straight face. You are the only one who can protect the credibility of your blog.

A challenge starting from zero earnings; I will continue to record it honestly.
