Writing was a prayer. The magic that note taught me: 'I can be a source of strength for someone'
I am a person with a relatively strong sense of self.
Because I place so much importance on 'what I think,' I am, if anything, not very good at putting myself in others' shoes.
That is why I have a strong sense of admiration and respect for those with high empathy who can naturally care for others' hearts.
Precisely because I cannot do it naturally, I have consciously strived to 'try to understand someone.' That accumulation has become my current belief that 'to know is to be kind.'
Writing for myself
When I first started note, I was driven by a certain sense of urgency: 'I want to write' or 'If I don't write, my heart will die.'
Because that feeling came first, what kind of value I could provide to society or readers through 'writing' was secondary or tertiary.
However, as I continued my activities, I began to receive more words of support.
There were people who wrote on my articles, 'I was saved by your words.' And it wasn't just one person, but many.
Articles I wrote simply because I 'wanted to write.'
Even if I didn't explicitly intend to 'be a source of strength for someone,' just by writing, I could make someone's heart a little lighter.
When I realized that, I truly felt that 'writing is like magic.'
A 'result' greater than 'numbers'
I have updated note every day for two years, and now, thankfully, I have many followers.
I have also experienced many warm comments and exchanges of feelings.
But the best thing about continuing note is not that 'my achievement over two years is 1,300 followers' or '600,000 views.'
Of course, I am truly grateful and happy for that, too. But that is not the greatest achievement. The change that occurred within myself is far greater and far more meaningful.
Learning through note that even someone like me can be a source of strength for others.
And, for the first time after trying to write, I discovered something I had never thought of before:
I want to be useful to someone!
I realized that this feeling was within me.
I now clearly understand that this is the reason why I am truly glad I started using note.
To deliver 'kindness' to many people
I am the type of person who acts on an impulse, so I started my membership for the impulsive reason that I 'wanted to try it'.
Even now, it is far from being a popular membership with dozens of members.
Even so, I am grateful that there are people who join. There are even some who have been with me for nearly two years now.
Even when things were tough, the feeling that 'if there is even one person supporting me, I will write for them' supported me time and time again.
Now, I view my own note as a place of challenge to deliver understanding and 'kindness' precisely to those who feel they are rarely understood by others.
For me, that is an irreplaceable 'meaning of life'.
I myself have always been in the minority, and I have long tasted the pain of not being understood by others.
It is only because of the existence of a place like note that I have come to think this way. Before I started note, I could never have imagined this 'present'.
I heard that note has finally surpassed 10 million members. I am as happy as if it were my own achievement.
Congratulations, truly.
The 'good things about note' are surely different for everyone. If there are 10 million members, note is creating 10 million different kinds of 'good things'.
I hope it will continue to be a platform that keeps creating our own individual 'good things' forever.
I am filled with gratitude toward note for providing this wonderful place, and toward you, who have read my clumsy writing until now.
I would be happy if I could continue to weave my 'good things' with you and in this place.
Thank you for reading until the end.
