[Event Report] Tissue Flowers Bloomed in Niwaniha Too

April 29th, 3:00 AM. Woke up.

There was a reason I woke up early on a holiday, two hours before my alarm was set to go off.

On this day, an event hosted by Masaru-san was scheduled to be held at "Niwaniha" in Kokubunji, and I was set to stand on the workshop stage as an instructor for the "Tissue Calligraphy Certification."

I have given presentations at relatively large academic conferences and meetings many times before.
There have been times when the audience consisted of company executives or important business partners.
I took pride in having been through my fair share of high-pressure situations.

Compared to those times, it seems that something overwhelmingly mysterious was what woke me up at 3:00 AM.

After all, it's a workshop for writing on tissues.

And they said J:COM would be coming to cover it, too.

And I am an instructor, after all.

What are you even talking about?

This is the first time I've ever been so unsure of where to put my energy or how to prepare for something.

In the end, instead of the careless instructor who chose the option of "doing nothing" and almost showed up |empty-handed with only tissues and a brush pen|, my reliable assistant, Pale Pink Eri, took care of various preparations.

If I call for people to send in tissue calligraphy in the article, then...

They really gathered!!
Kanna-san, Hidemi Tani-san, Pachiko-san, Sako-san, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all again 😭

And, for the children to enjoy, we had colorful watercolor pens, water guns, soap bubbles, black and various colored brush pens, underlays, tablecloths, laminates and clear files for taking home tissues, and so on.

Furthermore, a poster created by back-alley designer 3.7.

The finishing touch was even the master's lab coat.

The attentiveness of the capable assistant knows no bounds.

By the way, the certification for the test was designed by Haru Shibuki-san, and prepared by the master with scissors. (It quietly took 3 days)

With all that, thanks to everyone, it all came together!!

I was nervous until it started, but there's something strange about how putting on the lab coat I'm used to wearing makes me feel somewhat calm 🥹 The fact that this lab coat wasn't some cosplay from Donki but a genuine lab coat shows just how incredibly capable the assistant is.

With that, around 11 o'clock, the event started!

Customers were still sparse, and the memorable first TWE participant was a staff member who had rushed over to help with the event.

“This actually requires quite a bit of concentration, doesn't it?”

Even while saying that, their brushwork was so good you wouldn't think it was their first time.

I was so happy to see someone who learned about tissue calligraphy for the first time that day carefully writing each character one by one.

“How was it to try it out?”

“Well, it's fun, isn't it?”

Just as they said, I received a wonderful smile. Since they enjoyed it themselves, I presented them with a 3rd-grade certification✨️

After that, guests came one after another, and in the end, 29 people played with it.

Yes, 29 people.

It seems that means one out of every two visitors participated.

I was surprised by this myself. I never expected so many people to come.

Of course, many people who usually support me on note came, but even more general visitors came.
Truly people of all ages. Everyone faced the tissue with all their might, and works of their own creation were born.

And seeing everyone smile and say it was fun, the realization that “Oh, this was something worth doing” finally caught up with me.

Since it's a special occasion, I'd like to introduce just a few of everyone's wonderful works☺️

Really, they were all so wonderful that there was no doubt everyone was a winner🏆, but this is TWE. Tissue Writing Examination.

Yes, it is an examination.

So, from here on, I would like to announce the examination results of the noters who came to the venue.
(For those who passed 3rd grade, please forgive me for only listing your names🙏)

Oh, by the way, even 3rd grade is truly amazing, so please be proud of it?
You there, the leather craft artist, you shouldn't say the judging was strict, okay?

3rd Grade

Miwa Yutanisan, Soupsan, Rii Ayanosan, Hiroki Aosan, Hinasan, Gumi Otsukasan, Danai Yamamotosan, Shiguresan

2nd Grade

Kyoyasan, Cosmossan

They are certified as 2nd grade based on the volume of the stir they caused when they wrote. I could only feel their sense in how they used the brush✨️ Congratulations to both parent and child for receiving the 2nd grade award🎉

By the way, I will also post the works of the two people who are not noters but were certified as 2nd grade☺️

They work as teachers at an after-school care center and are professional-level at origami, so their brushwork and coloring were also very careful✨️

Since they also hold a teaching license, they effortlessly wrote some wonderful tissue calligraphy for us. They recreated the garden of the day with coffee using beautiful characters✨️

I have been surprised many times by Kanna-san's delicate, photo-like tissue calligraphy.

And here is what they wrote effortlessly at the venue this time in just about a minute.

The vividness of their brushwork and the unwavering tissue calligraphy caused a great stir. It could already stand as a back-alley performance.


Congratulations to our unanimous first-ever Level 1 holder, Kanna-san!!

Turning back the clock a little to around noon. J:COM appeared!

Yes, J:COM really did come.

Since the broadcast time for the entire event was only about a minute, the tissue calligraphy might only be on screen for a few seconds.
Even so, they carefully filmed the elementary school children drawing and the certification documents.
I feel like the camera was pointed at me for a moment, too.

But, given that vibe, I don't think I'll actually appear on screen...
But I can't take back the face I've already shown... ＿|￣|○

What are you talking about?

Up until now, the focus has been on the perspective of a tissue calligraphy master, but it was truly an event packed with so much more.

First, Yutani-san's reading. It was truly wonderful. It's a shame I couldn't listen to the whole thing calmly because I was watching the children, but I was moved when I listened to it again in the archive.
Yutani-san's gentle and beautiful voice echoing through the historic 'Niwa ni wa'. I don't think I will ever forget it.

And then, masaru-san's coffee. It was a huge success,
masaru-san and his son were dripping coffee non-stop without a break.
It seems that masaru-san, who has been active in online sales, had a dream of dripping coffee with his son and serving it to customers. Being able to drink such delicious coffee at this event where that dream came true, and being able to be in that space together, everything was just too happy. masaru-san, thank you so much.

And above all, everyone who gathered at masaru-san's invitation was so warm, and I felt a strong connection between people. masaru-san, who was at the center of it all, was seriously cool.

Also, I brought my 4-year-old second son, and he was played with by so many people. Eri-san, Ao-san, Janai-san, and everyone, starting with Konishi-san, thank you for babysitting!

My stomach was filled with taiyaki and bread, I was moved by the juggling, and it was a truly satisfying day!!

Sigh, it's so lonely that it's over.
