Aiming for 60 to 80 points is the hardest part! | Wanting to stop being a perfectionist but unable to
Hello, I'm Hana🌼
"It's okay to aim for 60 to 80 points instead of 100"
"You shouldn't aim for perfection"
Every time I hear words like that, I think:
"To begin with, what even counts as 60 points?!"
The line that is 90 points for one person
might only be 60 points for me.
That's why
"This hasn't even reached 60 points yet"
is what I end up thinking.
Because I think "it's not enough yet,"
I end up keeping at it.
However, if you keep thinking "it's not enough yet,"
you'll inevitably get exhausted at some point.
The task never seems to end.
It's a dilemma.
---
When that happens, I think,
getting feedback
is actually quite important.
The first time I hit this wall was
when I was a university student,
but university assignments
don't really provide much feedback.
You just submit the assignment and that's it.
There was also almost no opportunity
to see other students' submissions.
All you eventually find out is
the grade on your report card: 'Excellent,' 'Good,' 'Fair,' or 'Pass.'
I had no idea what criteria
made something 'Excellent' or 'Pass.'
---
However, since I started working,
I've been receiving more feedback.
'This is as far as you need to go with this.'
I've started to develop a sense for that.
Even with this note,
I get comments on articles that I personally
thought I hadn't written very well.
They get likes, too.
I see,
this level is good enough,
I realized.
If you don't know,
get feedback.
Just put it out there
and see how people around you react.
By doing that,
your own scoring line
will gradually become clearer.
So,
to everyone who gives me likes and comments!
Thank you so much, as always!!👏
That's all, thank you for reading! lol
