Is That Expense Really Necessary? Finding True Wealth Through a "Minimalist Lifestyle"
Hello! It's Chaso-sensei 🧑🏫!
Even if you think, "I'm not living luxuriously," there is often “unconscious luxury”hidden in your daily habits. Have you ever tried intentionally lowering your standard of living significantly? Have you ever tried to discover your true values through such an "inconvenient experience"?
1. Try setting the rank of services and products to the "minimum"
The things you always use and the services you pay for as a matter of course. Try lowering their rank by one or two levels, or setting them to the "minimum rank"😃
Reviewing subscriptions
Switch an ad-free plan to one with ads, or cancel it for now. If you don't have trouble without a subscription, get rid of it, or I recommend only subscribing during months you use it often!
Downgrading productsTry intentionally switching your basic skincare, shampoo, detergent, etc., to the cheapest price range.
Changing transportation methodsIf you use a bus or bicycle to get to the station, try walking instead.
If you find that "it's good for my health and actually enough," that is proof that your spending has been excessive until now.
2. Try thoroughly pursuing "cheapness"
Intentionally ignore efficiency and time performance, and try experiencing some gritty frugality 😃
Supermarket hopping
Try visiting multiple supermarkets in search of eggs that are even 10 yen cheaper.
Sticking to PB (private brand) products
Instead of famous manufacturer products, only shop for the supermarket's own budget brands.
Challenging yourself to make things by hand
Instead of buying ready-made products, try making your own seasonings and preserved foods.
3. Cut out "unconscious snacking"
Small daily expenses add up to large amounts. Let's thoroughly eliminate these.
Don't buy snacks or drinks🙅♂️
Make your impulse buys at convenience stores zero.
Bring your own water bottle and lunch🍱
Don't buy drinks outside, and prepare your own lunch to bring with you.
What lies beyond experiencing "inconvenience"
The purpose of this "minimalist lifestyle" is not just to increase your savings. It is to uncover "what is non-negotiable for you."
Things you felt were "actually fine"
Those are items in your life that you can lower the rank of or stop altogether.
Things you felt "I can't stand this! It's inconvenient!"
Those are exactly the things that are "worth paying money to solve" for you. Invest in those with confidence 🙆
Graduating from unconscious luxury
When you try experiencing inconvenience, you might realize that your quality of life doesn't actually change that much. In fact, there should be "good things" too, such as the joy of finding creative solutions or the scenery you discover by walking.
If you know what a minimalist lifestyle is like, it serves as a reference when you increase your living expenses.
Once you raise your standard of living, you can't go back.
First, try experimenting with a "thoroughly inconvenient and cheap lifestyle" for one week. Your true happiness might be in a much simpler place than you think.
Thank you for watching 😊
