[Standing] What is Good Posture? ~Secrets to a Beautiful, Fatigue-Free Posture~
Last time, I talked about the "correct way to sit."
In that discussion, I explained that by keeping your pelvis upright and stacking your spine and head on top of it in a balanced way, your body naturally becomes more relaxed and less prone to fatigue.

I also talk about "what good posture is" 😊
And now, as a continuation of that 👉
I would like us to think together about the "correct way to stand" 💖
Actually, the theory behind sitting and standing is almost the same.
In other words, whether you are sitting or standing, it is important to support your body with your bones and avoid using unnecessary effort 🌸

✨ Is the "Attention!" stance taught in school really good posture?
When you hear "good standing posture," what many people imagine is...
Yes, isn't it the "Attention!" stance we were taught in school? 👩🏫
・Tuck your chin in
・Keep your back straight
・Bring your heels together
・Point your toes out at a 45-degree angle
・Keep your hands flat against your sides, extending all the way to your fingertips
It certainly looks very beautiful and sharp, doesn't it? ✨
It is a very appropriate posture for "when you want to create a formal atmosphere," such as at ceremonies, interviews, or training sessions.
But... 💦
It would be a problem if you assumed this was "good posture for daily life" 😣
This is because this posture is a "posture for training," and if you maintain it for a long time, the muscles throughout your body will become too tense and you will get tired.
In other words 👉 while it looks beautiful, it cannot be called a good way to stand in a functional sense 🌸

✨ What is a functional way to stand?
The true "good way to stand" is 👉 a posture that utilizes your skeletal structure, allowing you to stand naturally with minimal effort 🌿
What is important here is 👉 the position of your center of gravity.
Actually, what greatly influences the quality of your standing posture is how you place this center of gravity 💡
✨ The position of the center of gravity determines how you stand
The soles of human feet are over 20cm wide, right?
That is precisely why 👉 the way you stand changes completely depending on where you place your center of gravity.
To conclude 👉 it is best to place your center of gravity "directly under your ankles."
It is around the area slightly in front of your heels and slightly behind your arches 👣✨
By placing your center of gravity in this position, you are most stable, and you can stand naturally and comfortably without using unnecessary effort 😊

✨ Let's experience it for ourselves
Now, let's try a little experiential exercise 🌸
① Put your weight on your heels
Put your weight firmly on your heels and try lifting your toes.
How is it? Doesn't it feel difficult to balance, as if your body is being pulled backward? 😣
② Put your weight on your toes
Now, put your weight on your toes and try lifting your heels.
This is also unstable, and you end up putting unnecessary tension on your whole body 💦
③ Place your center of gravity directly under your ankles
Finally, while shifting your weight between your heels and toes, try to find the spot "directly under your ankles."
It is the place where your weight rests flatly from your arch to your ankle 🌿
When you stand there 👉 you will feel your body suddenly relax, and you will feel your breathing become deeper naturally 😊💖

✨ Aligning the position of your pelvis and head
Once your center of gravity is set, next we will align your pelvis and head.
・Place your weight on the soles of your feet from your ankles to your arches
・Align your pelvis vertically in that direction
・Be conscious of your sit bones pointing straight down
・Adjust so that you don't arch your lower back too much or round it 🌸
Then, place your head on your spine.
The point here is 👉
“The sensation of looking slightly diagonally upward”
By doing this, your head will rest on top of your spine,
releasing tension in your neck and shoulders, and making it easier to breathe naturally.

✨ The limitations of the standing posture taught in school education
In school, instruction is often limited to superficial advice like "straighten your back" or "tuck your chin in."
But in reality, you cannot create good posture without understanding the structure of your skeleton and muscles, and the position of your center of gravity.
In other words, even if you fix only the appearance, it does not become the "correct way to stand" in the true sense 🌸

✨ Standing posture viewed from the differences between humans and animals
Quadrupedal animals (such as dogs, cats, and deer) do not need to be conscious of their center of gravity.
Since the position of their center of gravity is naturally fixed, every individual ends up with a similar posture🐕🐈
On the other hand, humans are bipedal.
Precisely because the soles of our feet are wide 👉 there are differences in how people place their center of gravity, which leads to differences in how they stand👣
That is exactly why humans need to 'learn how to stand'🌸
✨ Try experiencing bad posture
To know the correct way to stand, it is also important to experience 'bad posture' in contrast.
・Heel-heavy → The body is pulled backward, causing fatigue
・Toe-heavy → You feel like you are going to fall forward, causing tension in your ankles and calves
・Arching your back too much → Likely to cause lower back pain
・Slouching → Breathing becomes shallow, and your neck and shoulders get stiff
If you actually try these, you should immediately realize, 'Oh, I can't keep this up'😣
After that, when you return to the correct position, you can naturally feel, 'This posture is much more comfortable after all'🌸
✨ Tips for standing for long periods
For example, in situations where you have to stand for a long time, such as on a train, at a ceremony, or during standing work.
At such times, just by being conscious of this 'center of gravity standing method' 👉 your body will feel surprisingly comfortable✨
✨ Standing on one leg is also recommended!
Many people think that 'standing on one leg is bad for the body,' but it is actually very effective😊
・By placing the burden on one leg, you can let the other leg rest
・The basic principle is the same 👉 place your center of gravity on the 'ankle to arch' area
・Keep your pelvis upright in the direction of your center of gravity, and place your head on top of it
What is especially important is the position of your head.
If you are conscious of placing your head directly above the pelvis of the leg you are standing on, you will create a solid axis🌸
And 👉 when you get tired, switch to the other leg.
By repeating this, you will become less tired even when standing for a long time😊✨

✨ Summary
・The correct way to stand follows the same theory as 'how to sit'
・Be conscious of placing your center of gravity 'directly under your ankle,' near the arch of your foot
・Keep your pelvis firmly upright, without arching or rounding your back too much
・Place your head on top of that, with the sensation of looking slightly upward and forward✨
・When standing for a long time, incorporate standing on one leg to let your legs rest alternately
Just by being conscious of this 👉 you will look beautiful, and your body will feel surprisingly comfortable🌸💖
