A lot of things have happened all at once over the past few days.
🚑 Continuing from last time. A few days after that emergency transport...
In my last post, I wrote about
my mother being rushed to the hospital by ambulance.
That was on 4/16.
Honestly, that day I was prepared for the worst-case scenario,
and my mental state was pretty shattered...
...but.
👉 At this point, she is showing an unexpected power of recovery😳
🩺 78 years old, stronger than I thought
Although she is still hospitalized,
my mother's condition has improved significantly.
Even though we were initially told she would be hospitalized for 2-3 weeks,
when I went to visit her today—
👉 "Depending on tomorrow's tests, I might be able to be discharged this week"
Wow, things are moving way too fast😂
📊 The test results were also unexpected in a good way
Yesterday she underwent 7 types of tests,
and the results were quite good.
・Pneumonia → Recovering smoothly
・Suspected heart failure → No issues for now
To think she could bounce back this much from that state...
👉 78 years old (turning 79 soon), she has quite some potential💪
👵My 'usual mom' is back in the hospital room
She was a little better the day after being rushed to the hospital by ambulance.
And the day after that—
・Eating meals in a wheelchair
・Making friends with the person in the next bed
・Introducing us as 'this is my son and his wife' when we visit
👉 Her adaptability and recovery power are just too high😂
Well, there's nothing left to do but feel relieved.
😅Where did all that tension from back then go?
That said,
it was truly terrifying when she collapsed in the bathroom.
Furthermore, the doctor even said to us,
'Please think about life-prolonging measures in case of an emergency.'
Hearing that,
my mind went completely blank.
And on top of that, this month—
・My wife's hospitalization and surgery
・My father's hospitalization and surgery
・My mother being rushed to the hospital on the day of my father's surgery
👉 The problem of having too many events packed in😇
For some reason, only I have the 'exclusive caregiver position' and
keep going to the hospital (lol)
Well, I can see the end of that too now, so I'm both surprised and relieved...
🤝A family that supports each other, and a wife who is too strong
Even though my father and wife had just had surgery, they went back and forth to visit my mother.
While they were asking each other,
"Are you okay?"
My wife was always smiling and saying
"I'm fine😊
It's great that Mom is getting better"
And in the evening,
"Should we call Dad?"
she even showed that kind of consideration.
👉 I really can't thank her enough🙏
🏢Saved by the kindness of my workplace
And another big factor was my workplace.
The "super white" (very supportive) call center where I work.
I had told them about the possibility of sudden time off due to this situation, but—
The moment I arrived at work, my manager ran over and said,
"That must have been tough. Is your mother okay?"
When I explained the situation,
"How are your father and wife doing?
Toshi-san, please don't push yourself either.
If anything happens, let us know right away"
Furthermore, they were flexible with shift adjustments this time.
My colleagues all reached out to me as well,
👉 I am surrounded by kindness😭
🌿Once again, I have nothing but gratitude
Through this series of events,
I truly realized how much I am supported by my family and my workplace.
That is exactly why, from now on,
・Sharing information among family members
・Preparing for the unexpected
・Managing my own health
👉 I intend to do these things properly.
(I also want to keep being a 'full-time caregiver' in moderation😂)
