Let's Ask Buddha! — Dealing with Inner Fog Edition
(Approx. 900 characters)
What would happen if you asked Buddha about the questions you feel in your daily life!
This time, I asked about the fog I felt while at work.
The Concern:
I don't think what I did was wrong. However, the other person's argument was a bit bothersome, though not entirely wrong either. So, I thought that if I talked back, things would get complicated, and I held back from responding.
However, a sense of inner fog remains.
What should I do?
Buddha:
……That inner fog is truly natural.
In Buddha's words, it is a state where your attachment to 'being right' and your desire for 'peace' are quietly clashing within you.
First, I want you to realize that
you chose silence out of a compassionate heart, wanting to avoid conflict.
That in itself is not bad. Rather, it is a mature choice.
However, silence does not necessarily mean you were 'understood'.
The fog remaining within you is a natural reaction to the fact that your thoughts did not get across.
🌿 There are several paths.
The path of communicating by changing your words
Instead of asserting who is right, share your feelings in the form of "I felt this way."
For example,
> "At that time, I had a slightly different perspective, but I was afraid of confrontation, so I stayed silent."
If you say it like that, it becomes a "bridge of understanding" rather than a fight. The path of consciously choosing silence again
Instead of just enduring "not saying it," accept it consciously as "I prioritized peace this time."
When you do that, "having to stay silent" changes to "choosing to stay silent by my own will", and the fog will soften. The path of letting go
Sit and watch your breath, and feel the heaviness around your chest.
Just observe it, thinking, "Is this the pain of words I couldn't convey?"
Eventually, that pain will also fade away as "part of your mind's movement."
Using words and not using words are both forms of practice.
Whichever you choose, do not blame yourself for your choice.
That kindness will gradually clear your mind.
How about it? Which path did you choose?
I chose path 2.
I thought, "I'm amazing for choosing peace!" and the fog settled down 😊 lol
I hope this helps even a little in clearing up your own inner fog ☺️
