Household Account Book That Makes Use of Bookkeeping Studies | The Ultimate Combination of 3 Functions x Numbers x Bookkeeping
You studied bookkeeping,
but have no place to put it to use?
Have you already forgotten it?
That "waste"
can be solved with a self-made household account book.
All you need to prepare is
[[phN_open]]
a smartphone and the free Numbers app
[[phN_close]]
and just 3 functions (SUM, SUMIF, VLOOKUP)!
[[phN_open]]
When people think of spreadsheet software, they think of Microsoft Excel,[[phN_close]]but this is the Apple version.Since I use an iPhone, I use the Numbers app, but I believe you can do the same thing with Excel or Google Sheets.
Even if you are not confident with functions, you only need to enter them at the beginning!
After that, the ledger is displayed automatically, so
there is no need to memorize the meaning of the functions!
To those who learned bookkeeping but have no place to use it
• Even if you study for the Nissho Bookkeeping Level 3 exam and get the certification...
Journals and ledgers are irrelevant in daily life, right?
• I don't want to forget it, and if possible, I want to actually use it.
→ If it's a household account book, you record it every day you shop, so you can put it to use, right?
What does bookkeeping in a household account book mean?
A household account book is a proper "ledger" that "records the movement of money" for an individual (household).
In other words, people who keep a household account book are doing "bookkeeping" unconsciously.
However, many household account books use "single-entry bookkeeping,"
which only records the increase or decrease of money, such as income and expenses.
For those who have a lot of money movements other than cash,
doesn't keeping a household account book become complicated?
Conversely,
people who only use cash for everything
should have few complaints with the usual household account book!
Since double-entry bookkeeping allows you to record assets and liabilities along with income and expenses,
① Shopping and paying with cash
Food expenses (500 yen) | Cash (500 yen)
② Shopping and paying with Rakuten Card
Daily necessities expenses (1,000 yen) | Rakuten Card (1,000 yen)
③ Buying stocks at Rakuten Securities (depositing from Rakuten Bank)
Rakuten Securities (50,000 yen) | Rakuten Bank (50,000 yen)
Up to this point,
maybe it's barely okay even with a normal household account book?
④ Selling the stocks (specified account) bought in ③
Deposits (60,000 yen) | Rakuten Securities (50,000 yen)
Securities sale loss (2,031 yen) | Securities sale profit (10,000 yen)
| Deposits (2,031 yen)
Securities sale loss -> taxes deducted, Securities sale profit -> profit made from selling securities as the term implies
⑤ Mercari sales came in
Mercari balance (800 yen) | Daily necessities expenses (800 yen)
I am treating it as a reduction in daily necessities expenses (I don't think this is done in a company's real ledger, but it is a measure to avoid increasing account titles)
⑥ Settlement of Merpay deferred payment (200 yen covered by points)
Merpay (1,000 yen) | Mercari balance (800 yen)
| Miscellaneous income (200 yen)
Merpay deferred payment (liability) decreases, and Mercari balance (asset) also decreases
In reality,
Points increase (replaced with assets) | Miscellaneous income (revenue) increases
Applied to Merpay settlement | Points decrease
However, since the point part is plus-minus zero (not treated as an asset in the first place), it is not recorded
With double-entry bookkeeping, you won't be confused at all.
Because you can see the overall picture of your household finances in three dimensions,
I recommend bookkeeping!
You can also freely decide the account titles,
so you can do it however you like!

I have entered the money movements from ① to ⑥ into the journal of the household account book I actually use.
You can see at a glance that a profit of 7,469 yen has been made in these two days!
The app used is the standard iPhone Numbers app.
• Free, ad-free, and surprisingly high-performance
※ People accustomed to PC Excel (mouse and keyboard operations) might find it difficult at first, but the functions used in this household account book are common to Excel, and it's just a matter of getting used to it ← That's irresponsible!
• Syncs via iCloud so it can be used and viewed on PC/Mac/iPad as well.
The 3 functions used are:
• SUM: To total
• SUMIF: To total with conditions
• VLOOKUP: To find numbers and display words
If you have used Excel functions, I think you have seen these functions before!
The functions are basic, and you won't need to enter them again after the initial setup! (I guarantee it!)
Things that were actually good about using it:
Keeping a household account book is no longer a "chore"
It has become a "hobby" that enhances my creative desire.
I don't remember the official account titles used in ledgers that I studied in the Nissho Bookkeeping book at all ← Hey!
I am confident I will never forget the mechanism of double-entry bookkeeping.
I can complete my household accounting with just one smartphone!
You can copy and paste the file every month to reuse it, and you can enter or review it anytime, anywhere, and on any device!
Just by typing in the day's money movements, each balance changes automatically, and you can see at a glance how much profit or loss there is for the current month (no need to calculate!)
Recommended for people like this:
• Don't want to forget bookkeeping
• Find calculating household accounts troublesome
• Like creating things yourself
• Want to freely set household account items
• Don't have an aversion to Excel
