#204 | I'm relaxing myself by being optimistic
I would like to apply for Kazenoboushi-san's February project.
"I'm relaxing myself by being..."
The "..." this time is
optimistic.
Until a little while ago, I thought of
optimistic people as
people who say "it'll work out"
without any basis, people who have stopped thinking.
But that was just my own
assumption, as someone who has always
prepared too much for the worst.
I recently realized that being optimistic
doesn't mean not thinking about anything, but rather
knowing that even if things don't go well,
you can always bounce back
.
That said, the "preparedness mindset"
that has been ingrained in me for years
doesn't change that easily.
So, instead of changing my way of thinking,
I am changing how I use it in my daily life just a little bit.
I think about the worst-case scenario only once.
I entrust it to the future, saying "I'll think about it if it happens."
If I get 80% done, I call it a day.
Even if I fail,
even if I come to a standstill,
I confirm to myself, "I didn't break today either."
Just doing that
relieves some of the tension in my heart.
Being optimistic
is not about being positive, but
about loosening up just a little bit
on the thinking that keeps assuming the worst.
Right now,
I am relaxing myself by being optimistic.
