[Diary] Mameshima is going to the Literary Flea Market
Kei Mameshima will be selling their book at the "Smile Spice" booth at "Literary Flea Market Tokyo 40," which will be held at Tokyo Big Sight on Sunday, May 11th. They have been posting a series about the journey leading up to this since February 21st.
Well, I suppose many of you are already aware of this, even without an introduction from someone like me. After all, they are a popular figure in the Note community, a recipient of the Best Reviewer Award in the 2023 and 2024 Creative Awards, and a talented individual who passed the preliminary selection in the Mystery Novel category of the 2024 Creative Awards.
However, if you're wondering why I'm writing an article about it, yes, it's because I wanted to use the dad joke in this title. In my case, as I get older, things like my "hair" and my "sense of shame" are fading away. I find myself wanting to use even "painfully boring jokes."
Rather than regretting not doing it, I choose to try and fail.
I'm sure those in the Note community will immediately recognize the source of the title, but if it doesn't ring a bell, please search for "Kirishima, Bukatsu" (Kirishima, Thing or Activity). I apologize for using Mameshima's name without an honorific in the title for the sake of the joke.
Also, since I believe the kind Mameshima will forgive this playfulness, I have not obtained their permission. If I do get scolded, I plan to visit their booth at the Literary Flea Market Tokyo to apologize with a souvenir in hand.
By the way, it seems Mameshima will be creating a book based on the mystery novel "Zanmu" (Residual Dream), which passed the preliminary selection for the 2024 Creative Awards. I read it when it was first published, and I am truly looking forward to seeing it powered up and turned into a book.
I met Mameshima last year, and while fully aware of the rudeness of "who are you to say such things," I shared my thoughts on "Zanmu" and said,
"I wish that character had a bit more screen time in the second half; I think it would have made it even more interesting."
I said that to them. I repeat, as I get older, my "sense of shame" is fading away. Because of that, I am secretly paying attention to whether "that character" has more screen time as a hidden pleasure.
I will also be exhibiting at Literary Flea Market Tokyo 40, so I don't think I'll have much time to leisurely browse the booths. I plan to visit a few booths during the gap before the doors open, but I definitely want to stop by Mameshima's booth first.
And, having written this much, I realized something. If I'm going to play with this joke,
"Fukushima is going to the Literary Flea Market"
would also work.

Taro Fukushima will be participating in the Literary Flea Market with an individual booth as well as by contributing to the literary circle Aoneiro.
Aoneiro is an anthology themed around "color" by seven writers. I have read everyone's manuscripts, and I believe this book is a great bargain.

I hope you will stop by the "Smile Spice" and "Aoneiro" booths. As for my new book, the manuscript is not yet finalized, but I plan to bring a few copies of my older works that are published on Kindle.
Also, I plan to bring this book as well and sell it at a very reasonable price.
