I am Hitomi Kuma, a mom in my late 30s aiming to publish e-book picture books.

I represent my son, who has ASD, ADHD, and DCD traits, as a raccoon named 'Arara' 🦝

Introduction

My 4-year-old son, Arara, is a neurodivergent child.

He has recently become seriously obsessed with figure skating 🦢

When you are raising a neurodivergent child, the moment you discover what your child 'loves' is

truly a happy one, isn't it?

Now, thank you all for your hard work on the 400-note festival in the note community!

Something I realized while receiving comments and messages—

It seems obvious, but it was an event that made me feel it all over again.

What on earth is a Swan Ranger!?

A curious term, "Swan Ranger," has emerged.

A story about a 4-year-old boy with developmental differences who admires figure skating🦢

My 4-year-old son Arara, who has ASD, ADHD, and DCD traits,

has been captivated by something ever since watching the Winter Olympics—

that is figure skating.

Aiming for his dream triple axel—

He jumps and spins around.

He is practicing somewhere every day (on the floor, of course, haha).

Seeing Arara like that, my husband said one thing.

"It reminds me of that all-male ballet from overseas."

…That is certainly true (haha).

But you know, while he invites laughter, his technique is solid.

With traits of DCD (Developmental Coordination Disorder),
he often feels difficulty in how to move his body, but

his concentration on what he 'loves' is second to none.

Such is Arara—

Conclusion

I think raising a child with developmental differences is a series of surprises, laughter,

and a little bit of anxiety every day.

But when I look at Arara—

that 'concentration on what you love' is,

Perhaps it is a strength born precisely because of his unique traits.

There are many moments when I feel that way.

His application to the Swan Rangers (lol) is also a sign of Arara's typical full-throttle approach.
