If you want to earn money on note, write a self-introduction | Why putting it off will cost you [Part 1]
Hello!
I'm Tanamiri,
a working mom who supports note monetization.
Today, I'm going to talk about why
a self-introduction is essential for monetization!
A self-introduction is super, super, super important, so
I'm going to write about it in two parts: Part 1 and Part 2.
Part 1 ▶ Why is a self-introduction necessary?
Part 2▶ How should you write it?
Let's start with the "why"!
If you write it without fully understanding this,
your self-introduction will end up being vague,
so we'll take our time with it today.
Conclusion: If you don't write a self-introduction, your paid notes won't sell.
It's a bit harsh, but it's true.
Think about it.
Would you pay money for an article
written by someone you don't know?
...You wouldn't, right?
For example, take the online news you might open casually.
Many are sourced from newspapers or magazine media.
Is the author's name included?
It isn't, right?
That's because it's free.
Because it's free, it honestly doesn't matter
who wrote the article.
The goal isn't to charge money,
but to get clicks for that media outlet.
On the other hand, sometimes you see articles written by freelancers
that have a path to a paid product.
In this case, the writer's name and background
are clearly stated.
That's because it's paid.
It's because they want to build their own fans
and have them read their work again.
Do you have a better image of the difference between free and paid now?
Now, I'll talk about how this applies to note.
What is it like on note?
However, when you look at note,
✔️ You haven't written a self-introduction at all
✔️ Even if you have, it's just one sentence
There are really a lot of people like that.
Among the newsletter subscribers who ask me for advice
because their note isn't growing,
there are many who haven't written a self-introduction.
(I dare say they haven't written one,
because if it doesn't reach the other person, it's the same as not writing it.)
This is a huge waste.
Take a look at the self-introductions of people
who seem to be earning money and have paid articles.
You'll be surprised
at how thoroughly they are written.
It's so long, you'll think, 'Is this a book?'
By the way, here is my self-introduction article.
It's about 3,500 characters, equivalent to 8 pages of manuscript paper.
(And this is on the short side.)
Write your self-introduction long, detailed, and thoroughly.
That is because it is the
'royal road' to selling products in the content business.
Why is it so important?
Because readers who find a good article will always come to check your profile.
It's as simple as that.
Let's try looking at it from the reader's perspective.
'This article is exactly what I'm struggling with!
I wonder what kind of person wrote this?'
They open your profile with excitement.
Hmm? No self-introduction?
There's a self-introduction, but it ends after about 10 lines.
I have no idea what kind of person they are...
In a state like this,
they lose interest immediately and will never come back.
If your first impression is bad,
it takes twice as long to recover.
Besides, it's a real waste to lose someone who went out of their way to visit you.
And there are 'three roles' that a self-introduction plays that are even more important than that.
The three roles a self-introduction fulfills
1. Removing vague anxiety
'What kind of person is this?'
As long as this cloud of doubt remains,
'Okay, I'll learn from this person through their paid note!'
...that won't happen.Absolutely not.
'I am this kind of person'
By clearly conveying this,
you remove the reader's anxiety.
You show them that it's a safe path.
This is the gateway to trust.
2. Letting them know your 'passion'
✔️ What kind of mindset do you have for running your account?
✔️ What kind of content do you want to share?
✔️ What do you want your readers to achieve?
Once this is conveyed, readers will decide
“I want to support this person”
“I want to follow this person”
= whether or not to become a fan
Conversely, if you cannot write this,
honestly, it is a sign that you should rethink
the very design of your account.
③ Get them to empathize with your position
People are creatures who want to learn from those
in similar circumstances to themselves.
A sense of solidarity is born from a feeling of kinship.
(Not only that, but learning from someone similar to you
makes the reproducibility
skyrocket)
・Are you a company employee or self-employed?
・Are you currently raising children?
・What is your age group? What is your work style?
・What is your background related to your content?
Your note, too,
is likely not intended to reach everyone regardless of age or gender.
It shouldn't be.
Get the people you want to reach to empathize by saying, “They’re just like me!”
This is where the distance between you shrinks significantly.
“Will anyone actually read such a long self-introduction…?”
Having read this far,
Who would read such a long self-introduction?
for those who thought that,
that is perfectly understandable.
Actually, I used to think the exact same thing
in the past.
Who would read my self-introduction? No one is interested in you.
I thought.
But that isan assumption on the writer's part Readers before they buy
will read it thoroughly.
In fact, they check it even more carefully before buying a paid note.
Throughout the long history of content business, writing a longer self-introduction sells better
This has already emerged as one of the “correct answers.”
If so, it is better to do it according to the correct answer, right?
Besides, it is fine if only those who are interested read it.
There is no one who will get angry and say, “How dare you write such a long self-introduction!”
There is absolutely no downside to writing one.
There is nothing to be afraid of.
