The most dangerous thing is to do nothing after a sale. Why you should automate after a purchase
A product has sold. What do you do from that moment on?
"Yes! It was purchased!"
It's a happy moment, isn't it?
When my first product sold,
I instinctively pumped my fist in the air.
But right after that,
"...so, how should I respond to this person?"
I froze.
Send a thank-you email to the customer who purchased.
Stop the sales emails.
Record them so they are identified as a purchaser.
What if you had to do this manually every time?
You would have to be glued to your computer
every time a sale was made.
This time,
I will teach you how to automate
the response after a purchasehas been made.
Using two different automation features
Last time, I explained the automation mechanism
called workflows.
Actually,Systeme.iohas
two automation features.
They are "Workflows" and "Automation Rules."
Workflows are features for building
multi-step processes, such as
"Send a bonus when registered,
wait one day, then start the newsletter."
Automation rules are features that
pair a trigger with an action,
such as "Add a tag when purchased."
The convenience of this tool is that
you can use them according to your needs.
Complex flows use workflows.
Simple processes use automation rules.
You can choose according to
what you want to achieve.
Automation rules are perfect for
the post-purchase response this time.
Why post-purchase automation is necessary
This is the most important point I want to convey today.
You build a funnel,
have them register on an opt-in page,
build trust through step emails,
and introduce the product on a sales page.
Even though you automated up to this point,
what happens if only the "after" purchase part
is manual?
The person who purchased
will continue to receive sales emails.
"I've already bought it,
yet I'm still getting sales pitches..."
This is an action that will
instantly lose your customer's trust.
Conversely,
if you properly automate your post-purchase follow-up,
customers will feel reassured,
thinking, "They really have their act together."
The overall sense of trust in your system
is determined by what happens "after the sale."

Setting up post-purchase automation
All you have to do is
set two actions
within a single rule.
Open the automation rules for the order form
Settings are configured from within the funnel.
From the funnel step list,
select "Order Form",
and click on "Automation Rules"
from the top tab.

When there are no rules yet,
it displays
"This list appears to be empty."
Click "Add Rule" to
create a new rule.
Set the trigger
First, set the trigger (the catalyst).
Clicking the "+" button for the trigger
will display the options.

Select "New Sale" here.
As it says, "Triggers when a customer makes a purchase,"
the action will
automatically start
the moment the order is completed.
Add two actions
Next is the configuration for the actions.
Clicking the '+' button for actions will display a list of available actions.

Add two actions from here.
First: Unsubscribe from campaign
Please select the step email for sales.
With this, the sales emails will automatically stop the moment they purchase.
The 'I already bought it, but I'm still getting sales pitches' problem.
This solves it.
Second: Add tag
Specify a tag such as 'Purchased'.
This will automatically record who has made a purchase.
The customer segmentation by tags that I mentioned earlier
is what comes into play here.

Once you have added the two actions, click 'Save'.
When you return to the rule list,
the rule you created will be displayed.

If there is a green checkmark,
it means it is activated.
By creating just one rule,
post-purchase handling has been automated.
Common pitfalls
Create tags in advance
In the action settings for automation rules,
you must select from existing tags.
You need to create the 'Purchased' tag
in the tag management screen beforehand.
If you try to set it up and think,
'Wait? The tag isn't in the options...'
then
please check if the tag has been created first.
Don't forget the rules when adding a funnel
Automation rules are
set for each funnel order form.
When you create a new funnel,
don't forget to add the rules as well.
If you feel relieved after setting it up for one funnel,
you might find it's not working for another...
this can happen.
Summary
The tasks for post-purchase automation
were simple.
Set a 'New Sale' trigger in the order form's automation rules,
and add actions to
add a tag and stop emails.
Just one single rule.
No programming required.
The overall trust in your funnel
is determined by how you handle things 'after the sale.'
Once you know how,
these are all things you can do yourself.
Next time, we will finally cover
testing the entire funnel's operation.
I will share the points you should check
to ensure you don't cause any trouble for customers
when you go live.
😊 Today's mini-question
(Please let me know in the comments!)
Have you ever had the experience of
still receiving sales emails after buying a product?
A: Yes! It felt a bit off
B: I might not have noticed
C: I'm scared I'll make that mistake myself! (lol)
Just picking one of A, B, or C is fine!
Even just a word would make me incredibly happy.
If you could quickly let me know in the comments,
it will be a hint for creating the next article!
