Serial Master Case | Weekly Short Short Note
“Sorry to disturb you while you're resting. I'm from the Tsukuba Central Police Station.”
Two men showed their police badges. They were detectives.
“Yes, what is it?”
“Do you know this man?”
The detective held out a photograph. A man was pictured in it. He looked to be about 30 years old. He was a very ordinary-looking young man in a white dress shirt, looking clean-cut.
“No, I don't know him. Did this guy do something?”
“He's a master.”
“A... master?”
“This man has mastered something. Something he shouldn't have mastered...”
It's a very strange law that makes mastering something a crime.
“Excuse me, but what is your occupation?”
“I'm a freelance writer. Though I don't make much money.”
“In other words, you haven't reached the point of mastering anything yet?”
“Of course not. I'm at the very bottom.”
“I see. Well, we'll be going then.”
When I turned on the TV, a news flash was playing.
“Author Kenjiro Tahara has been arrested in the act on suspicion of winning the Naoki Prize, and author Akiko Shibata has also been arrested in the act on suspicion of winning the Akutagawa Prize.”
“Oh boy, poor both of them. I guess I'll go visit them later.”
(End)
I am participating in Tarahakani-san's project, "Weekly Short Short Note."
This week's theme is "Serial Master Case."
Everyone who wins a prize in a public contest should just be arrested... ( ゚Д゚)
