Living Through Menopause ♪ ②
It's a good age to be ♪
Menopause brings all sorts of symptoms, doesn't it!
In the life cycle, it's also known as
“midlife crisis”!
I talked about that last time 🤗
Is it stress?
Is it menopause?
Is it a midlife crisis?
It felt like, what is going on~~~ 💦 (lol)
It's that kind of time! That's what it is!
In the first half of menopause, I really felt my autonomic nervous system falling apart!
<Bone Density>
And I also talked about osteoporosis 🤗
Personally, I had acquired the knowledge and theory, understanding and practice, and systematic learning
to keep both my mind and body in balance ✨
But!
Unexpectedly... what!?
My bone quality is average, though!
My lumbar spine is at a level where I should be careful,
and my femur bone density is at a level that requires attention 💧
It seems to be lower than people of the same age 😓
Suspected osteoporosis... 💧
The bones in the lumbar spine and femur are important parts of the body that support you!
I often hear about compression fractures of the spine, and if you break your femur, it's hard to walk...
These are parts I want to take good care of ✨🤗
While I was talking about that...
Oh no~~ a fracture~~ 💦
Can the numbers be this different depending on where you measure bone density?!
This time, I measured bone density in my forearm! (The test about 5 years ago was also on the forearm)
I also hada blood test.
And so... what do you know!
My forearm bone density was,
compared to the average bone density of young adults (20-44 years old),
equal or higher! ✨😳‼️
On the chart, it was at the highest position on the normal line!
Blood test was also OK
I have enough Vitamin D, so no problem...
(I also mentioned that I am doing HRT)
I heard that results differ depending on the part being tested.
・Forearm numbers tend to come out better
・The difference between lumbar spine and femur numbers is about 10 (for me, it's more than that)
Well, women's bones become brittle after menopause!
(I had a hysterectomy, so I don't know when I hit menopause😅)
I was able to learn that the bones in my thighs are getting weaker!✨
<About Osteoporosis>
I'm learning from this site🤗
It's easy to understand✨ I'm going to make it my bible (lol)
<Decrease in female hormones after menopause>
Osteoporosis is a disease that is particularly common in women,and it is said that over 80% of patients are women.Estrogen, a type of female hormone, works to slow down bone resorption during bone metabolism and suppress the dissolution of calcium from bones.
Therefore,when you reach menopause and the secretion of female hormones decreases, bone density drops rapidly, and it becomes lower earlier than in men of the same age.
Estrogen has a major impact on how bones function😅
<Definition of Osteoporosis>
A bone disease where bone strength decreases, making bones more prone to fractures
<Bone Strength>
Determined 70% by "bone density" and 30% by "bone quality"
Osteoporosis is a decrease in bone density and deterioration of bone quality.
It can be said that it is a disease where both factors interact to increase the risk of fractures.
Bone strength is about bone density and bone quality
I only hear about bone density, but I'll consider bone quality as well🤗
<Bone Metabolism>
Actually, old and deteriorated bone is maintained and reborn as new bone. This is bone metabolism. It is also called "bone remodeling."
In healthy bones, the balance between bone resorption (the process of breaking down bone) and bone formation (the process of building bone) is maintained. However, in osteoporotic bones, bone resorption progresses rapidly and exceeds bone formation, causing the bones to become porous and brittle.
My bone quality is fine, but...
It seems my femoral bone density is lower than average.
Given my age and the results of my health checkup, a decline in female hormones is also a possibility.
So, in coordination with a women's clinic and an orthopedic surgeon,
I have started osteoporosis prevention ✨🤗
<Women's Clinic>
A women's clinic ✨
I had been concerned about it since the first half of menopause,
but I just couldn't bring myself to go.
Is it just stress?!
It's just a mild symptom of menopause!
I'm managing to get through my daily life, after all!
That's what I thought.
Since my health checkup two years ago,
my cholesterol levels have risen even further,
and for the first time,dyslipidemiawas flagged... 💧
My BMI is 18so for me, it was a mystery???
When I looked it up, I learned that cholesterol levels rise suddenly after menopause.
I see!
Since I've had a hysterectomy, I can't determine my menstrual cycle.
It seems like it would be better to just get it checked out.
Dryness of the skin, hair, and mucous membranes
I was having menopausal symptoms too,
and there are things that have been bothering me for a while,
so it's finally time to go.
I once talked about menopause with a beautiful older lady I know at the gym.
"I've had a hysterectomy too—I'm on hormone therapy."
"I'm also getting placenta injections; it makes a huge difference."
"I go to this clinic, and it's really good ♪"
"If you're worried, you should go get checked out."
I had already obtained some good information!
Finally, the time has come for me too 😅
I made up my mind, here I go! ✨
<Thinking about the direction together with the doctor>
I received the results of my hormone levels from the blood test! ✨
(Since I had a hysterectomy, I can't tell when I've reached menopause)
I will look at the state of my ovarian function through the numbers!
However,
While measuring female hormone levels is an important clue to knowing whether current health issues are due to menopause, it is not a definitive condition.
Ovarian function decline is estimated based on fluctuations in the menstrual cycle,
and hormone measurement is used only as a reference!
⭐️ I used this site as a reference.
<Menopause is a period of fluctuation>
After puberty and the reproductive period, the period from about 45 to 55 years old (the 10 years around menopause) is called "menopause." Because it is an unstable period of transition from active to inactive, it is sometimes called a period of fluctuation.
● "Menopause" is determined by confirming 1 year or more of amenorrhea (no menstruation). The average for Japanese women is 50.5 years old.
● If it cannot be determined by menstruation due to a hysterectomy, etc., it is determined by female hormone levels.
E2 (estradiol) level: 20 pg/ml or less
FSH level: 40 mIU/ml or more
If the above is observed, it is determined that ovarian function has declined (menopause).
These values can be checked with a blood test.
👆 I wanted to know these criteria~ ✨🤗
I have also received an explanation of the test results from the doctor ♫
<Treatment for menopausal disorders and methods for disease prevention>
Estrogen replacement and lifestyle improvements are ways to treat menopausal symptoms and prevent diseases (*).
(*) Diseases: Osteoporosis, arteriosclerosis, dyslipidemia, etc.
👆 Exactly! I am at high risk for these (*) diseases~~💦
After test results, a consultation, and counseling,
it was decided that I would undergo hormone replacement therapy and placenta injections~♫🤗
<Hormone Replacement Therapy>
This is a treatment method aimed at improving and maintaining mental and physical functions by using medication to supplement the decrease or deficiency of female hormones that accompanies the decline in ovarian function.
<Two meanings of hormone replacement therapy>
One isto alleviate menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes. The
second isto live a healthy and independent life (extending healthy life expectancy) and to prevent diseases such as osteoporosis and dyslipidemia.
<Placenta effects/Amino acids contained>
● Autonomic nervous system regulation effect (relaxing effect to suppress irritability, etc.) / Tryptophan
● Basic strength improvement effect / Valine, Leucine, Isoleucine
These amino acids are called branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) and are often included in post-workout drinks and supplements.
● Immune strengthening effect / Arginine, Glutamic acid
● Fatigue recovery effect ● Concentration improvement effect / Tyrosine, Phenylalanine
● Anti-stress effect / Glutamic acid, Glycine
As you can see, placenta has various pharmacological effects.
It is an injection solution of 2cc per ampoule.
There are pros and cons, and I think it varies from person to person.
If you are concerned, I recommend consulting a specialist to consider the treatment and direction that suits you.
So!
In short...
I've reached menopause,
my female hormones are low,
and my bones are getting brittle~!
Let's work on prevention~♫
Hormone replacement therapy (patch type)
Placenta injections
I'm taking zinc ✨🤗
They also told me to do exercises to strengthen my bones!
I'll have regular checkups
and we'll focus on prevention~💖
I love prevention (lol) ✨
