Why Traveler's Notebooks Make Travel Twice as Fun

Travels with a Traveler's Notebook are fun.
The time spent writing down the excitement before a trip. The moments spent jotting down the atmosphere of a place while traveling. And the time spent organizing the collected memories in the notebook after returning home.
Come to think of it, since I got this notebook, I feel that the breadth of enjoyment has expanded significantly in all stages of travel: 'before, during, and after'.

Before the trip: Time to let your imagination run wild

Facing a blank refill, I begin to outline the upcoming journey. Places I want to go, things I want to eat, local maps. This process, which feels like capturing anticipation directly into the notebook rather than just making a schedule, makes the start of the trip even more vivid.

During the trip: The joy of collecting small fragments

During the trip, the joy of collecting mementos has increased. Tickets and receipts all become precious memories. It is also a pleasure to increase my knowledge by taking notes on things I noticed on the spot.

After the trip: Making your own personal guidebook

And after the trip, it's time to make the notebook while looking back on the journey. In the previous article, I introduced a 'method for easily organizing materials' using a spiral ring notebook.

This time, I had intended to summarize my own way of making a notebook, but before that, I realized something.

Because we forget, we leave it behind

When I was re-reading my past notebooks to write this article, I burst out laughing when I found a star mark on a travel map indicating 'the place where my daughter tripped'.

There are also hilarious comments made by my young son at the time, written down along with the scene from that moment.

It hasn't been that long since I started using a Traveler's Notebook, but there are still surprisingly many things I have forgotten. It seems that even events I thought I would never forget at the time gradually fade away.

No matter how vivid a memory is, people gradually forget it. However, with just a small star mark in a notebook or a scribbled comment from a child, the memory instantly regains the temperature of that time.

Because we forget, leaving things in a notebook like this takes on great significance later on.

How the Traveler's Notebook changed the way I travel

When visiting the same place again. While it is fun to explore places we didn't go to last time, it also seems interesting to dare to trace our own footsteps from back then with the notebook in hand. I am sure this notebook will become the best guidebook.

I will touch on the 'notebook making method' I have been continuing in my own way in future posts, but first, I wanted to write about this 'richness of keeping memories that would otherwise be forgotten.' ...So, I made a note of it on note today.
