4. Under the Tree of Peace #194

As I have written about before, there is a person named Happu-san whom I met on note and who is also active on platforms like Stand.fm.

Inspired by her experience on Stand.fm, she quit her job to pursue music full-time.

What Happu-san is spreading through her music is "Okinawa."

She married into a family in Okinawa and shares what life is like there.

Something I learned for the first time from her is

June 23rd.

Irei no Hi (Memorial Day)

In Okinawa, it is a holiday where even city offices are closed.

Happu-san will be holding a live performance this year on June 23rd.

Irei no Hi is a day to mourn the victims of the Battle of Okinawa and to pray for lasting world peace.

Given that there is war in the world today, shouldn't we cherish this day even more?
