No matter which direction you observe in the universe, extremely weak radio waves reach us from all over.
This is the cosmic microwave background radiation.
This radiation is light that was born approximately 380,000 years after the birth of the universe.
Immediately after its birth, the universe was extremely hot and filled with plasma, a state where electrons and atomic nuclei were separated.
In this state, light could not travel freely, and the universe was opaque.
However, as the universe expanded and cooled, electrons and atomic nuclei combined, and the first atoms were born.
At this point, light became able to travel freely through the universe.
The light from that time has continued to travel through the universe until the present day, reaching us.
That is the cosmic microwave background radiation.
By examining this light in detail, we can learn about the universe's

• Initial fluctuations
and so on.
