I've come to want 'land' to grow roses

In the spring of this year, my third year of rose breeding,
the children I cross-bred in my second year began to develop true leaves and grow.
It wasn't until well past the middle of June that they started to bloom here and there.

In Mr. Kimura's "New Roses," which I use as my textbook for cross-breeding, it says "buds in April, virgin flowers in May," so I am about a month behind.

It seems related to temperature and sunlight, but compared to last year, this is actually quite smooth. Even if it's slow, I'm grateful that they are growing properly.
There are 136 pots in total.
Growth is slow, but since germination, few have withered, and I can feel the strength of the rose plant.

The details of the progress of my second year of rose cross-breeding are recorded below, but

I have also been cross-breeding thoroughly this year, my third year, and the current situation is like this.

This year, I chose 7 varieties as mother plants.
Last year, I only cross-bred 5 to 10 flowers per plant, but I learned that roses are fine even if you increase the number, so this year I tried to apply pollen to as many of the first flowers to bloom as possible.

The number of fruits per plant varies, but there are well over 100 fruits. Cross-breeding was time-consuming and difficult, but since they properly bore fruit, I feel a sense of fulfillment.

But, I suddenly thought of something here.

In the second year, 136 seedlings were produced from 10 harvested fruits.
In the third year, there are over 100 fruits.
That's more than 10 times the number. Which means.

If I sow the seeds next year and pot up all the grown seedlings,
it will be over 1000 pots....!?”

It's such a huge number that I gasped out loud.
1000 is crazy, isn't it? 1000.
In the gardening world, if you are growing 100 plants, you are often considered someone with a rather heavy love for plants, but this is 10 times that.
It's crazy. It's pretty crazy.

However, Mr. Kimura says in his YouTube Rose School, "the probability of being able to announce one variety is one in ten thousand (one in 10,000 seeds)".
Even 1000 is one-tenth of that, so I was able to realize the scale of breeding for the first time.
You see, you can't do this unless you're crazy! (*I mean that as a compliment)

Actually, when I started breeding,"I'm going to make an original rose and win a gold medal in a contest!"I had that dream, but I've finally come to understand the reality. The road is long. The road is just so long.

In fact, I grow about 100 varieties of roses at home, and the garden space is quite full.
There are only 7 plants of the first-year original roses, but when the 136 plants from the second year grow up, the total number of roses will roughly double, and when the third-year children grow up, the number of roses will increase by another 10 times.

No matter how I think about it, it's over capacity.
I intended to continue for a long time, into the fourth and fifth years, but I never expected to see my limits in the third year.

Maybe it would be good if I could select them well, but I don't even know how to select them in the first place. What criteria should I use to discard them? I feel like I have no choice but to learn that as I go, but even if it is "to seek my own ideal rose," there is little that can be seen in the state of a small plant, and selection is extremely difficult.

If only my home were a little wider.
If that were the case, I feel like I could at least grow them to a certain size and be able to make a judgment.
If only I had more land.
