Trying to sell “plays” online
What is a play?
Some of you might be wondering, “What is a ‘play’?” Simply put, it is a script for a theatrical performance. It is read as ‘gikyoku’ in Japanese.
Beyond the enjoyment of “going to a theater to watch a play,” there are many other ways to enjoy theater. One of those ways is the pleasure of “reading theater through text (reading plays).”
You can cast your favorite actors in your mind while reading, try performing the lines out loud yourself, read while listening to your favorite music, or take turns reading aloud with friends. Not many of my friends read plays, but plays are actually very fascinating reading material.

Selling plays online for the first time
The reasons I haven't published or sold my work online until now were:
1. I like paper books
2. The procedures and preparation are a hassle
3. I absolutely do not want them to be pirated!
(It's hard to prevent, and it makes me very sad if it happens)
and so on.
What changed my mind was the rerun of “Uppun” performed by Gentou Gekijo in September. This performance received a huge response after the information was released, and all shows sold out in the blink of an eye, leaving many “customers who couldn't watch it.” There were even people who came all the way to the theater hoping to buy a same-day ticket, only for us to have to turn them away at the reception desk.
In addition to those who couldn't get tickets, I received personal messages from people who couldn't attend due to poor health or who gave up on watching because of the physical distance, which made me think, “Is it really okay that only those who went to the venue can read the play?”
While it is difficult to sell paper books due to a lack of manpower and time, I thought I might be able to sell them as data, which led me to sell my plays online for the first time. What are you selling?

What are you selling?

For the musical “Uppun,” I am selling three types of plays: the 16-person version, the 6-person version, and the 9-person version. Each is based on the premiere version, the TV version, and the rerun version, respectively. In particular, the “6-person version” has fewer performers than the other versions, so I thought it might be easier for high school drama clubs to perform, and decided to add it to the lineup. Why not try reading and comparing the different versions of “Uppun”?
In addition to the three types of “Uppun,” I am selling data for six plays, including the musicals “0-banchi,” “DADA,” and “Rinjin,” which were performed from January to March of this year. To ensure that those who bought them at the venue earlier don't feel like they “lost out,” the prices are slightly higher than the merchandise sold at the venue. Thank you for your understanding.
