From iPad to Kindle

My iPad was always in my backpack.

Until now, I had been using the iPad's handwriting memo feature to take notes during online meetings without looking away. Also, I had the Kindle app installed for reading e-books... Those were generally the two reasons I carried my iPad around.

However, starting around last year, I began using an AI transcription app. This is overwhelmingly more convenient for meeting notes. So, one reason for carrying my iPad disappeared, leaving only reading.

With that in mind, I decided to declutter my iPad and bought a Kindle during this year's Amazon Smile Sale (New Year's Sale). Amazon devices are cheaper when bought during Amazon sales.

The weight of the iPad Air (5th generation) I was using was 461g.
The newly purchased Kindle Paperwhite (12th generation) is 211g.
That is a weight reduction of 250g. (I tell myself that these little things add up...)

The Kindle's operation method is a bit unique.
It might take a little time to get used to it.
However, the feeling of turning pages is not bad. It is smooth.

Looking at my e-book library again, I have quite a lot of unread books here too. It looks like there are roughly over 100 books. However, with e-books, you cannot go and sell books that you read and think, 'This wasn't quite what I expected...' So, even though books that would not be on hand if they were paper books remain in my Kindle library, I don't know the exact number of unread books...

Well, it is a good opportunity.
I will make reducing my digital backlog of unread books one of my goals for this year.
