[Warning] Those who avoid "mutual following" on note are throwing away their biggest "business negotiation" opportunities [Part 5]
Regarding business operations on note...
Last time was about using podcasts, but
This time, this is an answer article to a consultation I received saying,
"I'm using note, but it's not leading to work."
To put it simply, what's missing is"a lead to business negotiations."That's the point.
note isn't just for reading anymore, you know.
It has become a business platform where consultations, requests, and purchases
actually happen.
But surprisingly few people
actually understand that mechanism.
Today, I'm going to talk about something super practical
to change from "being read" on note to "closing deals."
Honestly, it's a waste if you don't know this.

Why X integration is essential for note | A talk about content and attracting customers
The formula for success on note is simple.
"Content Power" x "Customer Attraction Power"
That's it.
Build trust with content,
draw people in with that trust,
build a track record,
and use that track record to build more sales and trust
...once that infinite loop starts spinning, you've won.
But, you know, on note, over
10,000 articles are posted every day.
I mean, 10,000 articles.
You'll get buried, naturally.
That's why note "alone" isn't enough.
You have to bring people in from the outside.
And the strongest way to attract customers from outside is X (formerly Twitter).
This is really important, so I'll say it twice.
Linking X and note is the shortest route to conversion.
*If you use Threads as your main platform, you can replace X with Threads.
The division of roles between X and note
The role of X is to "build anticipation."
From the stage of writing an article, release snippets on X. Like, "I'm writing this kind of article right now" or "I found some really great information."
By doing this, the feeling of "I want to read it" grows within the reader. This is incredibly effective.
Especially when you want to sell paid notes, you cultivate high-quality potential customers on X and guide them to note.
This flow has high reproducibility.
And here is the main point.
The immense power of "mutual following"
Are you using the DM function on note?
Things that would never happen in the comment section happen here. Service sales, consulting requests, work inquiries... everything is born from DMs.
However, you can't send DMs unless you are mutually following each other.
Did you know this?
Just following someone unilaterally isn't enough.
It's only when they follow you back that
you can really use the features.
Honestly, at first I thought, "This is such a hassle..." (laughs)
But once I tried it, I understood.
Mutual following was actually anetwork of trust.
10 benefits of mutual following
When I wrote them down, there were actually 10.
Followers increase on their own
When mutual followers like or comment, it gets exposed to their followers tooExplosive reaction to posts
Because it flows into the timeline, the initial momentum is completely differentRelationships don't break off
Because interaction happens regularly, you won't be forgottenAdvantageous for note's internal evaluation
With more interaction, you're more likely to be recommended (this is surprisingly not well known)Directly linked to sales
People buy from those they know. This is the iron ruleBusiness deals are born in DMs
Consultations, requests, collaborations... it all starts hereRepeat purchases
If there is a relationship of trust, they will buy from you againComments become deeper
You can talk about your true feelings, not just superficial thingsMotivation is maintained
When you have peers, you can keep goingBusiness opportunities
Unexpected work offers really do come. One came yesterday.
...so, there are only benefits.
I wonder, why avoid it?
If there is a reason for avoiding mutual following, I would like to know.
I seriously cannot think of one.
Turning DMs into a "sales engine"
3 triggers that produce results
And this is the most important part.
DMs are not just communication tools.
They are the shortest route to turning trust into results.
However, 90% of people are not using them effectively.
The reason is...
because they haven't designed a "DM that makes people want to reply."
The other day, a client showed me a DM they were consulting me about,
and the first thing I said was, "This smells too much like a sales pitch" (laughs).
I mean, they didn't mean any harm.
But when you put yourself in the recipient's shoes... well, you know.
There are 3 "triggers" in a DM.
If you don't press these, the other person won't take action.
1. Reaction trigger: Gaining attention
The first few lines of a DM.
This is where the game is won or lost.
The recipient decides within a few seconds of opening the DM.
"Is this relevant to me?"
Therefore, place a point of interest, not empathy.
[NG Example]
"I always enjoy your posts. Your work is wonderful."
→ This is something anyone can send. It will be ignored immediately.
[OK Example]
"Mr./Ms. XX, your recent article on 'YY' really hit home. Especially the part about ZZ, it's exactly what I've been struggling with..."
→ With this, they'll think, "Oh, they actually read it."
The goal isn't to be liked.
It's to stop the other person's attention, even for a second.
This is the reaction trigger.
2. Trust trigger: Eliminating the feeling of rejection
People close their hearts the moment they feel like they're being "sold to," don't they?
In psychology, this is apparently called "psychological reactance"
.
But when you really think about it, it's definitely true.
DMs that smell like sales pitches get rejected, no matter how good the product is.
Therefore, don't make it feel like sales.
This is super important.
How do you do that?...
You properly convey, "I am watching your activities."
[Practical Point]
Mention the other person's past articles or activities before
connecting it to your own proposal.
"I actually bookmarked the article you published last month on XX.
I tried it out myself since then..."
Something like that.
With just this, a DM becomes a "contribution" rather than an "advertisement."
It's something I learned back when I was a welfare worker, but
when people feel like they are being "supported,"
they open up their hearts a lot.
It's the same in business.
3. Result Trigger: Clarification of Action
Lastly.
The purpose of a DM isn't to get a reply.
It's to get them to take action.
Clicking, purchasing, signing up...
In any case, get them to take the next step.
But many people fail here.
They end with "Please consider it."
This is a no-go.
Because the other person doesn't know what to do.
The moment they hesitate, their action stops.
[Practical Point]
Eliminate hesitation. Close with a concrete "pathway."
"You can view the details here
→ [Link]"
"Between Plan A and Plan B, which is closer to what you are looking for?"
Something like that.
Presenting two options is also extremely effective.
People move when they are made to choose.
This is also psychology.
The flow of turning trust into assets and generating business negotiations
...It got a little long (lol)
But I think I was able to convey what I wanted to.
To summarize, it's like this.
Gain trust through content power
↓
Gather people on X and engage deeply on note
↓
Build a network of trust through mutual following
↓
Turn trust into results via DM
↓
Create more content based on your achievements
↓
And so on, an infinite loop
Once this loop starts spinning, it's powerful.
Let me say just one thing at the end.
Even if you gather people from X, if your landing profile is weak, everyone will leave.
Plug the "holes" in your customer acquisition.
This is the top priority.
A pinned note article isn't
a place to just post paid articles.
It's a place to convey your overall image
and trustworthiness to your readers.
Design mistakes here are a real waste.
All your hard work in gathering traffic will go down the drain.
I also tried things one by one, failed, tried again...
and by doing that, it's finally starting to take shape.
It doesn't have to be perfect at first.
We can think about it together.
This is my way of thinking.
If you have any worries like,
"I don't know how to create a profile"
"Is this DM wording correct?"
please don't hesitate to consult me.
I have prepared a guide with templates to help you break through the "first wall" of attracting customers on note.

You don't have to worry alone.
Because if we think about it together, we will find the answer.
See you next time.
